Buffalo Urban League is Hiring a Team Leader - Community Mental Health Promotion and Supports Near Buffalo, NY

Compensation - $52,000 - $56,000COMHPS - Community Mental Health Promotion and Supports (Formerly Buffalo HOPE)Buffalo Urban League is a COMHPS provider. Its function is mental health promotion and supports. There is an emphasis on promoting/referring mental health linkages for clinical services. This is achieved by outreach activities, wellness activities, screening, referral & linkage activities, and treatment adjacent services by trained and experienced paraprofessionals.
Position SummaryThe Team Leader manages a team of paraprofessionals on a day-to day basis ensuring that COMHPS activities proposed and carried out are aligned with program objectives. The incumbent spends a significant amount of time at outreach activities, ensuring that team members have the appropriate resources to promote, link and refer community members to resources in the community, assisting at the events, bringing supplies, and providing oversight.
Responsibilities
  • Supervises a team of Community Wellness Specialists.
  • Ensures activities are appropriately staffed, by confirming the daily schedule, and reassigning personnel if there are unexpected absences..
  • Visits the community events to provide additional assistance to team members, brings needed supplies, and provides oversight.
  • Collaborates with the Program Director to ensure activities are aligned with with program objectives.
  • Solicits data and metrics from team members and reviews for accuracy.
  • Meets with 1:1 with team members as well the entire team to review planned activities and metrics.
  • Provides trainings and debriefings for staff, community members or other parties as needed.
  • Prepares reports, maintains clinical files, participates in training, and provides statistical materials.
  • Assures that advocacy, linking, expediting and related activities are carried out, as needed.
  • Makes appropriates referrals to other service providers.
  • Collaborates and coordinates services with staff, other agencies, and community members.
  • Serves as resource person/consultant to other service providers in identifying community members for referral and works cooperatively with other providers to assure linkage of community members with appropriate services.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Mental Health or Human Services or related field; and at least 1 year of experience in a leadership role in Mental Health or Human Services/related field or High School Diploma or GED plus, 3-4 years of experience in leadership in a Mental Health or Human Services setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated competence in supervising a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to communicate a warm caring and non-judgmental approach to individuals and families.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Any foreign languages spoken, a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Team player who can work effectively with peers and other associates.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
  • Working knowledge of computers and computer software.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible.
  • Valid driving license and insurance, and daily access to a vehicle and/or access to transportation.
  • The ability to attend the activities and carry twenty (20) pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
