The Nursing Supervisor will work collaboratively with the Executive Director of the campus and the VP of Medical Services to implement, enforce and support the delivery of standardized nursing services at their designated work location.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides direction, organization, and strategic planning for the nursing unit and manages staff nurses
• Responsible for interviewing as needed, making hire recommendations, and performance reviews of medical staff under scope of supervision in partnership with Executive Director.
• Responsible for ensuring competencies of all new hires.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance of competencies for staff.
• Enforces policies and procedures related to all nursing services.
• Monitors and audits infection control per CDC guidelines.
• Monitors and audits as needed nursing documentation.
• Ensures nursing services at the Campus level are delivered in accordance with state and federal regulatory guidelines.
• Responsible for ensuring availability of necessary medical supplies, coordinating orders, and tracking current stock on hand.
• Evaluates and monitors staff performance, schedules nurses for rotations or shifts, and ensures efficient department and shift operations.
• Supports nursing student rotations as needed.
• Provides real-time constructive education for staff, as necessary.
• In conjunction with the Executive Director, implements educational programs and standardized practices with medical staff.
• Communicates any issues within the nursing unit to all necessary parties.
• Works collaboratively with the Center Executive Director and the Vice President of Clinical Services in the delivery of nursing services.
• Sets the tone for a healthy workforce and culture as a transformational and servant leader.
• Supports floor staff as needed and maintains visibility among floor staff for support.
• Monitor and support medication administration and compliance as directed.
• Maintain accountability of all controlled substances according to federal state agencies.
• Participate in quality management and staff meetings including any training and mandatory monthly nursing meetings.
• Support floor staff with AMA blocking
• Act as a resource for the charge nurse on duty
• Investigates patient complaints and grievances.
• Partners with Pharmacy and Lab vendors to improve process and patient care.
• Provides direct patient care, as necessary.
• Utilizes Evidence Based Practice to drive best practice for nursing care.
• Acts as a resource and is available when off campus for nursing as part of the campus escalation process.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required

• RN License required with Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
• 2 years of nursing experience consisting of 1 years’ experience in psychiatric/inpatient setting; with experience consisting of supervisory level management preferred

• Previous experience in addiction nursing and crisis stabilization experience preferred
• Current BLS/First Aid/CPR/CPI certifications and level one fingerprint clearance card or ability to obtain immediately upon hire
• Working knowledge of HIPAA and PII security requirements
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among staff

Educational Requirements

• Associates Degree from an accredited program with an unrestricted Arizona or compact state nursing license.

Additional Notes

• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
• Previous experience in detox and recovery environments preferred

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• In a 10-hour workday: standing/walking up to 10 hours per day
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
• Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
• You must have the ability to use tools and equipment required for the position
• Mental Focus: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
