Buena Vista Healthcare is Hiring an Independent Living Manager Near Newark, DE

Summary

Atrium at Churchman Village is a full-service independent senior living community located on the Churchman Village campus. With a wide variety of activities and services, The Atrium is the ideal place to enjoy one's golden retirement years filled with enriching social activities and amenities that make the most out of living independently while utilizing our discreet support services. The IL Manager coordinates all related services and scheduling to ensure these programs promote the highest quality of senior living expected. . Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise IL Staff by coordinating time off, conducting annual performance reviews, coordinate training, provide necessary leadership to staff

• Supervise and help create initial files and be the first line of contact for the grievance policy

• Oversee successful consumer intakes

• Develop and maintain familiarity with Churchman Village and Atrium service offerings

• Actively participate in boards, community meetings, and task forces geared toward creating policies that benefit the disability community

• Maintain confidentiality of all protected information concerning consumers, staff, and volunteers in accordance with state and federal regulations

• Become knowledgeable of different funding streams - private, state, and federal

• Conduct community outreach to expand services and the number of consumers served

• Participate in Atrium staff meetings and training

• Delegate tasks to the IL staff such as assigning consumer profiles

• Ensure current reporting data needs are kept accurate as needed/requested by DO and ED.

• Perform or Supervise internal file audits as needed

• Identify independent living goals and what services and resources are available to help reach goals

• Develop and maintain relationships with partnering organizations

• Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy of independent living

• Provide information about home and community-based services waiver services

• Provide information about the ADA and how to request reasonable accommodations

• Collaborate with other managers

• Participate in and help facilitate our community events

• Direct activities for the residents

• Drive the company van as needed for resident outings

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

• Communicate to persons of diverse backgrounds and abilities and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees

• Problem solve difficult situations with creative and individualized approaches

• Work effectively and communicate under high-stress situations

• Knowledge of community resources and partners

• Excellent verbal and written skills

• Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision

• Knowledge of experience with basic computer skills

• Excellent organizational skills and time management

• Ability to prioritize and plan effectively

• History of safe driving record in order to be included on company’s insurance for driving the 14-passenger van.

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma

• Minimum of 5 years experience in marketing and sales

CARRYING: Occasional: office supplies, bags of trash, clean clothing, perhaps a brief case, clip board, brochures or notifications; files and/or patient charts. Mostly, lifting/carrying of objects of no significant weight – mostly under 10 pounds; Less than occasionally (RARE), the need to lift/carry up to 20 pounds may be needed – such as: larger trash bag or larger than usual laundry bag.

CLIMBING: Negotiating stairs may occur rare to occasionally; however, one can avoid climbing stairs all together as this facility has an elevator available for use to navigate between the three (3) floors.

DRIVING: Occasional, one may need to drive to nearby locations for meetings, conferences, and/or interviews and/or dealing with situations as they arise. Must be able to drive the company van as needed.

GRASPING: Frequent to Constant– as when reaching for and manipulating objects while working at a desk or counter area; as when performing floor duties (setting up breakfast/dining area, performing laundry duties, removing trash, utilizing telephone, computer/keyboard, manipulating files, making notations for memos and notations.

KNEELING: N/A

LIFTING: Occasional to Frequent: office supplies, bags of trash, clean clothing, perhaps a brief case, clip board, brochures or notifications; files and/or patient charts. Mostly, lifting/carrying of objects of no significant weight – mostly under 10 pounds; Less than occasionally (RARE), the need to lift/carry up to 20 pounds may be needed – such as: larger trash bag or larger than usual laundry bag.

PULLING: Occasional – as when working in an office work environment at a desk area with desk and chair – moving chair in and out of place; pushing/pulling of doors when needing to be opened or closed.

PUSHING: Occasional – as when working in an office work environment at a desk area with desk and chair – moving chair in and out of place; pushing/pulling of doors when needing to be opened or closed.

REACHING: Frequent – while reaching for and manipulating objects (computer-keyboard-mouse-telephone); while working at a desk area/work-space; while making notations; while engaging in setting up and cleaning up continental breakfast and/or meal times; reaching for and manipulating items while doing laundry; while assisting in the setting up and cleaning up of other facility/resident activities.

SITTING: Frequent - Depending upon the day and the needs of the facility, sitting times will vary as the types of duties one engages in will vary from day to day; without the need for engaging in assisting Aides at meal times, cleaning up, and laundry duties, the Atrium Independent Living Director would be spending more time conducting coordination duties from the Director’s office/desk would be involved.

STANDING: Occasional - as needed; this will depend upon the specific daily schedule of the Atrium Independent Living Director; a variety of activities are engaged in that may require standing; in general, standing on an occasional basis would be the best assessment of this position.

WALKING: Occasional to Frequent – performed as needed; this will depend upon the specific daily schedule of the Atrium Independent Living Director; a variety of activities are engaged in that may require standing and walking; in general, one would be engaged in more walking than standing on any given work day.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: This work is performed in an in-door work setting. On a less than occasional basis, one may accompany residents on bus trips to grocery and department stores.

TEMPERATURE VARIANCE: Work is performed in doors; temperature controlled work environment. In colder weather-months, one may be exposed to the weather when needing to drive or walk from the facility/building to parking lot to board bus for resident activities; facility is air conditioned.

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT: Phone, computer/keyboard, desk, files, manuals, brochures, office equipment, documents, paperwork, files, clipboard.
