Risk Assessment Nurse at Buena Vida Nursing Home
Position Overview: As a Risk Assessment Nurse at Buena Vida Nursing Home, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to assess potential risks and develop strategies to minimize them, thereby maintaining a secure environment for our residents, staff, and visitors. Your expertise in risk assessment and mitigation will contribute to the overall quality of care provided at our facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of potential risks within the nursing home environment, including physical hazards, infection control measures, emergency preparedness, and resident safety. Utilize standardized tools and protocols to identify areas of concern and recommend appropriate actions.
- Mitigation Strategies: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop comprehensive risk mitigation strategies. Implement preventive measures such as staff training, policy development, safety protocols, and environmental modifications to minimize identified risks and promote a culture of safety.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and contribute to the development of corrective actions. Ensure timely reporting, documentation, and communication of incidents to relevant stakeholders.
- Compliance: Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local regulations related to risk management and nursing home safety. Develop and implement policies and procedures that comply with these regulations and industry best practices.
- Education and Training: Provide ongoing education and training to staff on risk assessment, safety protocols, and preventive measures. Conduct regular drills and simulations to enhance preparedness for emergencies and ensure staff readiness.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of risk assessments, incident investigations, and mitigation efforts. Generate reports and communicate findings to management, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a nursing home or long-term care setting.
- Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, regulations, and best practices in healthcare.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, residents, families, and external agencies.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software for documentation and data analysis.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of PCC is a plus
- A proactive and resourceful approach to identifying and addressing potential risks.
