JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: This position is responsible for insuring the appropriate development and implementation of the evaluation and IEP process for all special education eligible preschool children. Serving as the primary contact for families needing assistance, the Service Coordinator provides information, resources, and support to families, as needed. In addition, this position ensures services are in place for all children and manages all aspects of service delivery including, but not limited to, communication among team members and communication between the Bucks IU and community agencies.

Essential Functions:

  • Attend RR/IEP meetings and act as the LEA Rep
    • Consult and collaborate with IEP team to prepare for IEP meeting
    • Review documents to ensure accuracy and make suggestions related to goals, SDI, etc.
    • Record parent input at the IEP meeting
    • Provide feedback to IEP team regarding any necessary changes
    • Facilitate open and supportive communication among IEP team members
    • Ensure finalization of all ER/IEPs for students with the lead
    • Attend meetings for all those with children with contractor leads without exception
    • Create NOREP and provide to parents; follow NOREP process
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families
  • Provide families with information, resources, and contacts
  • Return phone calls/email within 24 hours
  • Process student assignments
    • Facilitate with supervisor the assignment of initial IEP writing and receiving team
  • Meet weekly with supervisor
    • Update supervisor on unassigned services
    • Update supervisor on compensatory time owed
    • Discuss all high-profile cases and develop a plan with supervisor
    • Track all students who require services over breaks and work with supervisor to assign those services
  • Participate in transition to school age meetings
  • Initiate and facilitate move-process with families
  • Maintain system of student tracking in area/region
  • Conduct student file reviews related to compliance and provider monitoring

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 193-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hours are dependent on the needs of the preschool early intervention program, children, and families. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: Travel to client locations are expected for this position.

Education and Experience:

  • Level of Degree:
    • Master’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Development, or related field required.
    • PA Certification in Special Education or related field required.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Broad and comprehensive knowledge of all areas of early childhood learning and special education.
    • Ability to communicate clearly to local school districts, school boards, Pennsylvania Department of Education, I.U. staff and community and parent groups.
    • Ability to develop and present demonstration material to groups and individuals, including the demonstration of facilitation skills.
    • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable): Citizenship or work authorization to work in the United States required.
