SUMMARY

Leads the CNC machining areas with direction from the supervisor. Produces machined parts through setting up and operation of CNC machines while maintaining quality and safety standards at all times.

SCHEDULE

Monday - Thursday, 5:00 pm - 3:15 am

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

  • Support and lead a culture of safety
  • Comply with all standard safety practices, safety rules, and all Company rules and policies.
  • Performs regular spot checks on all operators’ work to ensure parts are being manufactured to quality specifications.
  • Checking VMS records to confirm adherence to quality standards
  • Visual inspections to check for burrs or cosmetic defects in parts.
  • Competent blueprint reading and tolerance understanding, using micrometers, indicators, edge finder’s calipers or various measuring tools to verify part accuracy.
  • Complies with all quality policies, specifications and instructions.
  • Oversee tool-kitting and job set ups to assure they are being performed in accordance with Buck Setup SOP
  • Ability to setup, operate and troubleshoot a variety of CNC machines.
  • Provides continual training to operators to ensure understanding of processes, procedures and quality requirements
  • Update and educate operators on new parts, pilot runs, ECO and SOP’s
  • Works with Supervisor to schedule production run and ensure necessary materials are on hand to support competition of runs on time.
  • Update and change production schedule as needed
  • Keeps track of inventory for restock items and notifies supervisor if running below safety stock level.
  • Completes daily tie-ins between shifts both written and verbal.
  • Ensures that data is being recorded accurately in Machine Metrics
  • Determine root cause analysis for quality issues.
  • Makes sure all operators are following standard procedures for filling out setup, part count and process sheets.
  • Record daily shift attendance.
  • Regularly communicates/coordinates with multiple departments to meet production needs.
  • Maintains and promotes a positive work environment.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
  • Oversee 5S of the machines and CNC area.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives in area
  • Ability to handle sharp knives and other items continuously throughout the day.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Must have the ability to trouble shoot.
  • Ability to read and interpret work from sketches, specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers through BOMs (Build of Materials).
  • Must possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Able to work well independently and as a team.
  • Must be self-starter able to multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Able to use various precision measuring devices to check dimensions against allowable tolerances.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Associated Degree or technical degree or equivalent combination of experience & education.
  • 5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.50 per hour
