Buchanan County Health Center is Hiring an Activities Assistant Near Independence, IA
- GENERAL DESCRIPTION
- Assists the Activity Coordinator in the implementation of ongoing programming for activities, events, and outings for the long-term care residents to support their overall well-being.

- EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum educational requirements include a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Proficient computer skills, with a working knowledge for Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook and Excel.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support required.
- Within 90 days: Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class C with Passenger Endorsement driver license proper or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Must be able to be covered by BCHC auto liability insurance. No record of DUI, DWI or similar alcohol or drug related offenses over the past 2 years. In addition, there will be no record of reckless driving, careless driving, speeding over 15 miles above the speed limit, fleeing or eluding a police officer, chemical test refusal, leaving the scene of an accident, driving after revocation or suspension, or passing a stopped school bus in the last 2 years is required. Ability to drive vehicles with both standard and automatic transmissions, including a 15 passenger bus (shuttle) activities. Either have or be willing to obtain nurse aide certification within 90 days.

- WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- One year of CNA experience preferred.
- 2 years of experience preferred in a social or recreational program in a resident activities program within a healthcare setting.
- Committed team player, with hands-on approach and excellent communication skills required.
- Knowledge of Long-Term Care Regulations on State and Federal level (DOH and CMS) is required.
