Bubble Up Swim School™ is Hiring a Swim Instructor- Experienced Near Huntington, CA

Bubble Up Swim School is hiring for our 2024 swim season! We are a local, boutique swim school that takes pride in teaching our clients how to be water safe. We offer private, 1-on-1 swim lessons to clients aged infants to adults and are currently hiring part-time and full-time, seasonal swim instructors.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the safety of students, yourself and the environment at all times; be aware of potential hazards and respond appropriately to emergency situations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Patience and a level-headed demeanor when working with clients who may be scared or uncomfortable is a must
  • Teach water safety courses to all ages and skill levels, providing a high quality swim lesson to every student
  • Monitor student attendance and communicate absences with appropriate staff
  • Evaluate swimmer’s progress and keep daily notes within swimmer’s profile to assist other instructors
  • Communicate with (adult) students and/or their guardian regarding the student’s progress
  • Maintain equipment and supplies are in working order
  • Arrive to work dressed, ready to get in the water and start class on time
  • Communicate any concerns/feedback with management
  • Read and acknowledge company messages within a timely manner
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and in service trainings

Qualifications:

  • Be professional, respectful, dependable, courteous and work well with the public and fellow coworkers
  • Be honest, trustworthy, committed, reliable and mature
  • Have an outgoing, enthusiastic and fun attitude
  • Have a genuine passion for working with children and the public
  • Have a positive, engaging and encouraging personality when working with students
  • Must have patience and grace in working with students who may be uncomfortable with the water/you/their new environment
  • Provide 100% attention to student during lesson
  • Must be open to feedback and receptive to change

Work experience:

  • Applicant must have previous aquatic experience, including (but not limited to) swim team, water polo, Junior Lifeguard or previous Water Safety Instructor or Water Safety Instructor Aide
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers and special needs a plus

Education:

  • Applicant must be American Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor certified prior to start of teaching first swim lesson
  • Limited, on the job training provided

Requirements:

  • Have valid American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or be able to obtain prior to start of season
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver license, current auto insurance and registration
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must acquire your own swim instructor equipment
  • Must wear waterproof watch during lessons to keep track of time
  • Must wear appropriate swim attire while teaching lessons
  • Must submit daily reports

  • You will be assigned to a local area pool; some staff may, at their discretion, travel off-site to client’s backyard/community pools

  • You will be covered under our own general liability insurance policy

Physical/Skills Test:

  • Each candidate who completes the initial interview process will need to pass a physical component to the job interview, which will include a stroke test, water-rescue and a simulated teaching demonstration
