Position: Avionics Radar and Electronic Warfare Systems Engineering Support
Location: Hill AFB, UT, 84056
Security Clearance Required: Secret
Position Type/Standard Work Hours: Full-time/40 hours per week
Summary/Objective:
This role will provide support to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Fighter/Bomber Directorate (AFLCMC/WW) at Hill AFB, UT. The program’s mission responsibility is to develop, produce, deploy, modernize, and support United States (U.S.) and coalition partner F-16 fighter aircraft weapon systems and subsystems.
The Avionics Radar and Electronic Warfare Systems Engineering Support will contribute to this mission by supporting the engineering and technical design, development, integration, verification, qualification for airworthiness certification, and fielding of F-16 AESA radar, electronic warfare, and self-protection systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support, monitor, and assess prime contractor and major sub-contractor systems design, development, integration, and verification activities.
    • Continually monitor and assess aircraft modernization efforts, keeping abreast of system schedules, performance progress, and resolution of technical problems.
    • Investigate and recommend appropriate action concerning the need to redirect engineering efforts, pursue additional lines of development, and determine compromises on previously established requirements if required.
  • Support the development of avionics technical tasks to be completed for inclusion in the overall program schedule.
  • Support the development system requirements for inclusion into the program airworthiness certification plan.
  • Support the development of system requirements for inclusion into the program Systems Engineering Plan (SEP).
  • Support as an engineering team member on F-16 modification programs.
    • Provide technical advice and guidance to engineers, lead and chief engineers, PMs, and other program team members.
    • Support feasibility studies and technical evaluations to ensure that systems, subsystems, and equipment being developed are mutually compatible and serve to meet overall operational and technical requirements.
    • Assess technical risks and recommend options to be considered by F-16 programs.
  • Support RFP development, and in evaluation, of any contractor proposals in response to an RFP in support of F-16 production and modification programs.
    • Assist in writing, assembling, and integrating the technical requirements of RFPs including, but not limited to, System Requirements Documents (SRDs), SOWs, Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs), and DD Forms 610.
    • Assist with the evaluation of F-16 weapon system contractor proposals to assess compliance with program requirements. Participate in activities associated with proposal evaluations including, but not limited to, source selections, technical evaluations, and fact-finding.
  • Interface with all levels of engineering, program management, and leadership, including, but not limited to, other engineers, lead and chief engineers, technical experts, PMs, and civilian and military leadership within the F-16 Division/FB Directorate, other AFLCMC directorates, AFLCMC headquarters, AFRL, HQ AFMC, ACC, DoD, EPAFs, prime and subcontractors, and other government and private sector personnel.
  • Support various standing F-16 activities and organizations including, but not limited to, the F-16 Consolidated Board, F-16 JMCCT/B, F-16 Airworthiness Board (AB), F-16 CRTs, and F-16 System Safety Groups (e.g. System Safety Group (SSG), SSWG, and Material Safety Task Group (MSTG)).
  • Support formal and informal F-16 program reviews and meetings including, but not limited to, risk assessments, requirements, and design reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR), PMR including pre-PMRs, Management Action Team (MAT) meetings, TIMs, and configuration audits.
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering:
  • Degree must be earned from a college or university with an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited engineering program(s). To find out if a school has an ABET accreditation, go to ABET accredited schools (http://www.abet.org).
PLUS:
  • A minimum of ten years of DoD acquisition program office experience
  • Expertise in U.S. military fighter-bomber aircraft fire control radar development and integration experience.
  • Expertise of electronic warfare threats and countermeasures techniques and testing for fire control radars.
  • Expertise of precision Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) mapping processes and test processes.
  • Experience in U.S. military aircraft electronic warfare and self-protection systems development and integration.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not supervise the work of others.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to operate a computer and other standard office equipment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, 80%.
Travel:
Very little.
