The Chief Health Services Officer (CHSO) provides leadership, program management, and strategic vision to Independent Living’s Wellness and Life Enrichment Program, four licensed facilities, and a Hospice Program at a two-campus Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)/Life Plan Community (LPC) in San Antonio, TX. Blue Skies of Texas provides all levels of care for 1,000 senior living residents in independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care and hospice. The CHSO supports two medically focused boards and one committee (Alzheimer’s Care and Research Center Foundation Board, Health Services Corporation Board, and the Medical Committee). Maintaining high standards and inspection ratings is important to the success of the larger organization.
This is a senior management position requiring a wide range of administrative and professional skills. With broad guidance from the President & CEO, the incumbent is expected to work independently, exercise mature judgment, and demonstrate sound communication skills. Analytical rigor and fact-based problem-solving are a necessity. Maintaining a professional image and positive attitude while dealing with prospective clients, residents, staff, and board members is key. The CHSO is also a key member of the senior leadership team and participates in decision making and strategic planning for the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Healthcare. The CHSO should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a leader in the field of long-term care, preferably in continuing care retirement/life-plan communities, as well as experience in organizational management, staff management, fiscal management, strategic planning processes and goal setting, and new program development and implementation. Must possess basic knowledge of general accounting principles.
Preferred: Master’s degree in health care administration or business.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS:
Preferred: A clinician in good standing. Registered Nurse in the State of Texas preferred. Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator or Assisted Living Administrator is desirable.
