Amount of Travel Required: Varies
Job Type: Regular

Positions Supervised: Coaches, School Resource Officers at athletic venues, Concession Managers at athletic venues, Gate Managers at athletic venues.
Work Schedule: 220-day contract. While many job responsibilities occur during the day, the Assistant Athletic Director is expected to attend after-hours athletic events.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for assisting the Athletic Director in the planning, directing, and maintaining of all athletic programs in the district for grades 7-12.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Provide to the Athletic Director recommendations for all personnel needs for the operation of the athletic programs of the district.
  • Work cooperatively with the Athletic Director concerning academic and coaching assignments for all athletic personnel.
  • Assist the Athletic Director in maintaining documentation on coaches who are certified through the Arkansas Activities Association.
  • Provide feedback to the Athletic Director to assist principals in annual evaluations of all coaches and maintain documentation files.
  • Provide written evaluations to head coaches in grades seven (7), eight (8), and nine (9).
  • Assist in the coordination of scheduling of interscholastic athletic events and assignment of game officials with the Athletic Director.
  • Work with principals to ensure that an administrator attends all athletic events and arrange for security at home events.
  • Assist in the coordination with the Maintenance Director for the maintenance of athletic facilities and assist in the evaluation of the custodial personnel assigned to those areas.
  • Coordinate the purchase, allocation, storage, inventory and care of all athletic equipment in the district.
  • Work with the Athletic Director to oversee the reporting of all eligibility criteria sent to the Arkansas Activities Association.
  • Assist in the scheduling of all school groups (i.e., band, dance team, cheerleaders/spirit groups, etc.) who participate in or perform at school athletic events.
  • Work with the Athletic Director to coordinate the use of athletic facilities by non-school organizations.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of required records and reports.
  • When serving as a venue manager, direct and coordinate all ticket sales and concessions at athletic events.
  • Assist in the coordination of transportation needs with the Transportation Director.
  • Assist in the scheduling of personnel required for all auxiliary functions at sporting events.
  • Attend and represent the school and the district at community, state, and professional meetings as assigned.
  • Report to the proper authorities any cases of suspected child endangerment, neglect, or abuse.
  • Report suspected bullying to building principal or designee as required by Arkansas law and district policies.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other school districts as needed.
  • Adhere to all policies of the District.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school): Required
Master's Degree: Preferred

Experience: Prior experience as an athletic coach (preferably as a head coach) and/or assistant athletic director or athletic director is preferred.

Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.

Certifications &
Licenses: Current Arkansas teaching license that is appropriate for the position. Must meet all state and federal requirements for the position.

Other Requirements: 1. A level of experience that is commensurate with the requirements of the position.
2. Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
3. Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times around students, staff, and the general public.
4. Successful completion of Arkansas Activities Association's required trainings and endorsement updates.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position involves both indoor and outdoor activities. Outdoor activities may involve exposure to both hot and cold weather. Noise levels can vary from very low to high depending on the activity involved.
