Bryan W Whitfield Memorial Hospital is Hiring a NURSING HOUSE SUPERVISOR Near Demopolis, AL

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Must have attended an accredited School of Nursing with a current unencumbered Nursing License in Alabama as a Registered Nurse. License maintained with timely completion of CEU's and licensure acquisitions. A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing is preferred.

  •  A minimum of seven (7) years of experience as an RN in a healthcare facility with experience in Specialty Unit Care preferable. A minimum of five (5) years of responsible supervisory experience involving health care staff with experience with a multi-faceted business and healthcare systems preferred. A proven track record of successful performance must be clearly demonstrated. There shall be demonstrated knowledge and successful experience in managing divisional systems of governance, fiscal, environmental, human resource, clinical, community-based, TQM/QI, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, implement, lead, direct staff, coordinate and communicate on a general administrative level in terms of general hospital and healthcare administration with the personnel, Board, Medical Staff, community, and the regional and state and national healthcare levels.
  • A demonstrated understanding of the administrative, clinical, and technical systems and phases of Agency management and healthcare operations and the ability to work independently in resolving strategic and tactical (operating) problems without impairment or intimidation, must always with objectivity and principle.
  • A valid and current Alabama Driver's license without felony driving convictions and access to a reliable automobile.
  • Current ACLS, BLS, PALS certification

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIE S:

1. Physical Requirements:

a. Good verbal and written communication skills.
b. Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication.
c. Ability to perform tasks including physical activity which may include heavy lifting, i.e., patient from bed to wheelchair or to bedside commode, and extensive bending and standing, i.e., range of motion, dressing changes.

2. Assess, distinguish, report and act upon the physical, social, developmental, and environmental needs of all patients; and the knowledge to provide age specific healthcare to patients as appropriate and necessary.

3. W ork directly with the Chief Nursing Officer and Department Directors to manage daily operations of the Patient Care Services patient care units.

4. Ensure the units are clinically staffed to provide quality health care.

5. Analyze patient flow problems and assist in instituting corrective actions.

6. Monitors and evaluates clinical staff performance in compliance with established job performance duties and responsibilities.

7. Regularly interfaces with healthcare providers, managers, and staff to facilitate effective communication and promote quality improvement activities.

8. Functions as EHR super user, working closely with Information Technology Department to ensure that appropriate training, error monitoring and corrections are completed in a timely manner.

9. Assists as directed with the development and implementation of department policies and procedures.

10. Provide direction and support in relation to clinical leadership to achieve the clinical goals and objectives in the organization's comprehensive health care plan.

11. Participate as needed as a member of various committees related to the overall improvement of the corporation.

12. Complies with company policies and procedures; promotes and complies with accreditation body standards of care.

13. Manages the activities of the day by staff, patients, students, and providers to assure a smooth, efficient patient flow through the organization.

14. Works with the Materials Management Department to assure that the medical equipment and supplies that the providers require are readily available at the time they are needed.

15. Exercise pro per infection control and safety policies and procedures including proper hand hygiene during all phases of patient care.

16. Oversee and monitor stock and clinical inventory at all locations with special attention to prevention of out-of-date supplies.

17. Completes required weekly reports timely and accurately as required.

18. Ensures that clinical staff on responsible unit(s) has accurately completed and sent in monthly reports, i.e., code cart checklists, refrigerator monitor logs, etc.

19. Assure that quality control chart audits are performed timely and accurately as required.

20. Attend all mandatory in-services and meetings.

21. Supervise staff use of universal precautions and Infection Control standards to assure adherence with corrective action taken as required.

22. Maintain the organizational and departmental QI/QA Programs.

23. Coordinate and monitor clinical staff to completion of clinical staff competencies and performance evaluations.

24. Coordinate clinical staff education with other department managers and professional organizations.

25. Maintain a high degree of professionalism and acts as a role model for unit staff.

26. Maintain current competency in unit specific specialty. Fulfill the objective and measurable.

27. Maintain budget compliance through monthly review and monitoring. Use monthly compliance.
Documentation to complete and recommend unit specific budgetary needs. Provides accuracy. productivity/financial status reporting in a timely manner.

28. Possess the ability to analyze and study current clinical trends and ascertain appropriate Equipment, educational and staffing needs within parameters of defined budgetary guide• lines.

29. Contributes to the mission of the organization in providing convenient, cost-effective, quality care To the patients of our community. Also contributes to the financial goals of the organization, i.e., Cost control within the assigned area thro ugh staff productivity and utilization of supplies and equipment.

30. Maintain the ability to communicate effectively with all hospital personnel, patients, families, and significant others and to always maintain a professional attitude.
