Bryan County is Hiring a FIREFIGHTER/EMT RECRUIT Near Bryan, GA

The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for Full Time Firefighter/EMT Recruit in the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

RECRUIT SCHOOL TRAINING CONSISTS OF TWO PHASES:

FIREFIGHTER TRAINING

Fire Recruit school is approximately 10 weeks long. Typically, each day begins with physical fitness training, which involves running, strength training, or drills that will develop both personal fitness and teamwork. Recruits will have both classroom instruction and hands on training in a field environment on the fire ground, utilizing the IFSTA training manual 7th edition, "Essentials of Fire Fighting and Fire Department Operations". Recruits will physically demonstrate techniques on the fire training ground that they learned in the classroom environment.

At the end of the 10-week school, fire recruits will be tested for NPQ Firefighter 1 and NPQ Hazardous Material Awareness level to become certified Georgia firefighters.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TRAINING

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Recruit School lasts for approximately 7 weeks. The 7 week EMT Recruit training, will include working alongside professional emergency responders to learn and practice basic skills as a first responder. EMT Recruit training will include clinical rotations on the ambulance. Clinical rotations provide the opportunity to experience real-life situations and allow hands-on use of practical skills taught in the classroom.

The typical 8-hour classroom day contains both lecture and practical exercise components.

Recruits must pass all major testing during the basic EMT training, which includes weekly tests and a BCFES Final Exam. Once the recruits have successfully completed the BCFES final exam, they must pass the National Registry of EMT's written and practical test for the EMT level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License. Must be able to pass a GBI/FBI background check.
