General: This position requires a flexible person who is comfortable working in multiple environments. The nutrition floater is responsible for filling in for the cook at any of our 4 cooking centers on a per diem basis: Calabash, Leland, Shallotte, or Southport. Transportation between centers is offered when available via an agency vehicle which will remain at the center closest to the floater’s home. Personal vehicle mileage reimbursement is also an option. Responsibilities:

Food Preparation: Fill in for a center’s cook preparing ingredients, cooking, and serving meals in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes and food safety guidelines, adhering to the standards required by the HCCBG grant. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Meal Service: Help with setting up congregate meal areas before mealtime, having appropriate serving utensils ready for service, ensuring the line is clean, and welcoming for participants. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Food Safety and Hygiene: Maintain proper food handling and safety procedures, including cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen tools, equipment, and work surfaces in compliance with HCCBG grant regulations. Keep a neat clean appearance.

Inventory Management: Maintain kitchen inventory by tracking stock levels and notifying the person in charge of items that need to be replenished.

Support for Clean Up: Assist in clean up before and after meal service, including dishwashing, proper storage of food leftovers following food safety guidelines, trash removal, cleaning/sanitizing of all work surfaces and sweeping/mopping of the kitchen floors.

Customer Service: Interact with program participants and persons receiving a meal in a friendly and courteous manner, provide excellent customer service by resolving any complaints, and conflicts.
