Position Summary

Brunswick School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Pre School Learning Specialist to join our team. A culture of collaboration with families and faculty is one of the many strengths of Brunswick and learning specialists are an integral part of the school community. The Brunswick Pre School, serving 90 boys in Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, offers a unique opportunity for the Learning Specialist to work closely with faculty and staff. The emphasis will be on designing lessons tailored to the developmental stages and needs of our youngest students.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one, small group, and co-teaching instruction support to pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to enhance student learning in all academic areas.
  • Proactively contribute to the Student Support team.
  • Assist teachers, administrators, and parents in understanding individual learning profiles.
  • Collaborate with other student support roles, including but not limited to Speech and
  • Language, Occupational Therapy, Math and Literacy Specialists, Nurses, and Administration.
  • Foster the Pre School’s understanding of developmentally-appropriate teaching and learning across all program areas.
  • Oversee communication with evaluators, families, and outside tutors.
  • Assume additional duties as designated by the Head of Pre School.
  • Significant teaching experience in literacy, mathematics, social-emotional learning, and executive functioning for early childhood students.
  • Possesses an advanced degree or equivalent experience in working with students, along with certifications in intervention programs for students requiring additional support.
  • Experience in reading, interpreting, and summarizing educational evaluations.
  • Experience in collaborating closely with homeroom teachers, families, external providers, and school administrators.
  • Demonstrates skill in working with children and a passion for the art of teaching.
  • Enjoys working with boys in an independent school setting.
  • Showcases cultural competency and the ability to engage with and learn from individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Brings energy, kindness, maturity, curiosity, and adaptability to work.
  • Views collaboration as an integral part of professional growth and appreciates teamwork.
  • Enjoys a commitment that extends beyond the classroom, including contributions to the broader school community.
