We are currently seeking a Purchasing Specialist with Purchasing/Buying experience to join our Purchasing team. Experience working in the landscaping or construction industry experience is a plus. If you are dedicated to customer success and love the outdoors like we do, we’d like to meet you.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to internal customers on the purchase and acquisition of plants, landscape materials, tools, safety, or other supplies and products needed. This includes assisting with inventory, providing administrative assistance to internal customers, and other duties as assigned. The person in this position operates under general supervision and reports to the Purchasing Manager

  • Receives purchase requisitions and requests from various departments, researches vendors, quality, specifications, price, availability, and transportation to make decisions on purchases.
  • Creates purchase orders.
  • Assures procurement processes are followed; creating value, driving continuous improvement, and cost savings.
  • Proofreads and ensures the accuracy of detailed orders and purchase requests.
  • Receives and assists with inventory.
  • Assists with mid-year and year-end physical inventory counts (typically on Friday 1-2 times a year).
  • Assists with the creation of price books for customers.
  • May assist with scheduling delivery trucks.
  • Follows up with customers and internal teams as appropriate.
  • Responsible for data entry and updating information in Business Central (ERP) and Counterpoint (POS).
  • Responsible for maintaining files and organization, including filing.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the manager.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work is primarily performed indoors.
  • Exposure to standard office conditions, including exposure to heating and air conditioning and operation of computers.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00pm

Skills You Will Need

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or a similar field of study is preferred but not needed
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of previous purchasing experience is preferred.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Navision (NAV) and Counterpoint (POS) is helpful
  • Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality working with sensitive customer and organizational information.
