Job Description
The QA/QC Manager at Brown and Root Industrial Services plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and compliance of all projects undertaken by the company. They oversee the implementation of quality assurance and quality control processes throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and execution to completion. The QA/QC Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining quality management systems, conducting inspections and audits, and providing guidance and support to project teams to ensure that deliverables meet client requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Quality Management Systems:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards.
    • Establish quality policies, procedures, and work instructions to ensure consistent and effective implementation of QA/QC processes across all projects.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the QMS through regular audits, assessments, and performance metrics.
  2. Project Planning and Execution:
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop quality plans and inspection/test plans for each project.
    • Ensure that QA/QC requirements are integrated into project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
    • Conduct pre-construction meetings to review quality requirements, specifications, and expectations with project teams and subcontractors.
  3. Inspections and Audits:
    • Perform regular inspections and audits of work activities, materials, and equipment to verify compliance with project specifications, codes, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Identify non-conformances, deficiencies, and areas for improvement, and work with project teams to develop corrective and preventive actions.
    • Maintain detailed records of inspections, audits, and findings, and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  4. Supplier and Subcontractor Management:
    • Evaluate and qualify suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors based on their quality management systems, capabilities, and performance history.
    • Establish quality requirements and expectations for suppliers and subcontractors, and conduct regular assessments to ensure compliance.
    • Coordinate with procurement and contract management teams to address quality-related issues and disputes with suppliers and subcontractors.
  5. Training and Development:
    • Provide training and guidance to project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers on quality requirements, procedures, and best practices.
    • Promote a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement throughout the organization through training sessions, workshops, and knowledge sharing initiatives.
  6. Customer Relations:
    • Interface with clients and customer representatives to address quality-related concerns, provide updates on QA/QC activities, and ensure alignment with client expectations.
    • Collaborate with business development and sales teams to respond to requests for proposals (RFPs) and develop proposals with a focus on quality assurance and control.

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field; Master's degree is preferred.
  • Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or similar certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control roles, preferably in the industrial construction or engineering sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality management principles, standards, and methodologies, including ISO 9001, ASME, API, and ASTM.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in quality management tools and techniques, such as root cause analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience with quality management software systems and tools is a plus.
Certifications:
  • Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or similar certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is desirable.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
