Description

The Health and Safety Technician 4 supports line managers and facility personnel by assisting health and safety professionals with a variety of tasks, including collection of personnel air samples, swipe and bulk sampling, area sampling, real-time sampling, and inspecting areas or reviewing operations to ensure compliance with Laboratory and regulatory requirements. This role involves both fieldwork and data management activities, requiring expertise in recognizing, measuring, evaluating, and controlling potential health and safety hazards.

As a senior skilled level position, the Health and Safety Technician 4 applies extensive knowledge and skills to complete specialized tasks and has a comprehensive understanding of general and technical aspects of the job. This position requires creativity, independence, and the ability to develop solutions to complex problems, often contributing to outcomes that impact the entire group.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct various types of sampling, including personnel air sampling, swipe and bulk sampling, area sampling, and real-time sampling.
- Inspect work areas and review operations to ensure compliance with Laboratory and regulatory health and safety requirements.
- Provide technical support in identifying, measuring, and evaluating potential health and safety hazards.
- Collaborate with health and safety professionals to facilitate the implementation of health and safety requirements.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex health and safety issues using creativity and independent judgment.
- Coordinate with various teams and contribute to the development of health and safety projects.
- Assist in training and educating employees on health and safety protocols and best practices.
- Ensure data accuracy through careful manipulation and analysis of health and safety data.

Qualifications


- High school diploma and four to six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
- Additional training, certification, and/or education, such as an associate's degree or graduation from technical institutions, is preferred.
- Solid understanding of health and safety concepts and regulations.
- Familiarity with related disciplines, such as industrial hygiene, health physics, mathematics, physics, biology, and chemistry.
- Proven ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, to achieve desired results.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop creative solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with various teams.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and analysis.
- Ability to work in field and laboratory settings, as required by the job.
