Develops and conducts safety and occupational health training and education programs; inspects and evaluates workplace environments to ensure they comply with local and federal regulations; recommends measures to protect workers and the general public from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
Assesses County facilities, processes, and statistical data to identify trends, evaluate conditions and recommend appropriate corrective action.
Investigates and analyzes accidents to identify root cause and recommend corrective actions.
Facilitates the Countywide Safety Committee, under the direction of the County's Facilitator program and facilitates for other agencies as needed.
Reviews, develops and implements occupational health and safety policies and related compliance programs; assists with various Safety and Occupational Programs; assists in industrial hygiene monitoring; oversees and coordinates Broward County's Occupational Vaccine Program.
Conducts ergonomic assessments to improve productivity, quality and safety and worker comfort by making practical ergonomic improvements in the workplace; conducts job hazard analysis to identify hazards and recommend steps to eliminate or reduce hazards to an acceptable risk level.
Supervises the everyday evolution of performing local criminal background checks for new hires and volunteers; tracks employees' driver's licenses and citizen complaints regarding employee driving habits.
Receives loss notices regarding vehicle accidents throughout the month; enters accident information; acquires any additional information required to bring to the accident review committee for their review and vote.
Attends staff meetings, committee meetings, prepares for accident review committee meetings.
Performs related work as assigned.

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Involves routine and frequent exposure to traffic; moving machinery.
