Must be a current BSO employee who has successfully completed their probationary period by the listed closing date.Associate’s degree with coursework emphasis in Criminal Justice, Business or Public Administration. Bachelor’s degree preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of progressively knowledgeable experience in criminal justice and court related activities which includes knowledge of pretrial and sentenced inmates, as applied to limits of confinement, extradition, and treatment facilities. Demonstrated ability to work in direct relationships with Public Defenders, Attorneys (State and private), and all levels of the Judiciary.Demonstrated experience in the supervisory aspects of the work. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Such experience must be clearly documented for consideration.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under direction, the purpose of the position is to plan, coordinate, and supervise the operational activities of the Confinement Status Unit in the Broward Sheriff’s Office Division of Detention. Employee in this classification is responsible for ensuring that confinement practices for inmates in the custody of the Sheriff are performed in accordance with department and regulatory requirements. Position is responsible for coordinating the activities of subordinates engaged in Unit functions to include the confinement status of inmates that are in custody, court status record keeping, and gain time maintenance. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment within approved policies and procedures and is reviewed through reports for adherence to established policies and achievement of desired objectives. Performs related work as directed.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
