Our Personal Care Aides/ Medication Technicians (PCA/MED TECH) are responsible for assisting residents in medication administration and support with safety, comfort and daily activities. We are always looking for positive, dependable, caring individuals to join our team to meet the growing demand in our community for quality care.

PERSONAL CARE AIDE/ MEDICATION TECHNICIAN DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Be responsible for assisting residents (as designated by their attending physician) in medication administration
• Check medication carts for expired meds, cleanliness of carts, etc.
• Account for all the controlled substances going off and on duty
• Receive and document medications on arrival from the pharmacy and prepares needed papers and checks, distributes and stores the medications in the proper areas
• Be responsible for all the medication keys and pagers at all times.
• Assist with Resident's medications in a timely manner in accordance with the New York State Dept. of Social Services (NYSDSS) Regulations and the Facility Policies and Procedures
• All office procedures are the responsibility of the medication manager:
• Make rounds on assigned unit (per time schedule) and check the status of all Residents at the beginning and end of the shift
• Assist and encourage all residents with their personal care as needed. Included is dressing, grooming (oral care, hair care, nail care, shaving), toileting, bathing and walking. Report changes noticed to staff member in charge as soon as possible
• Obtain and record resident's weight as scheduled. Immediately report any weight gain or loss of 5 lbs. or more to the staff member in charge, unless orders direct otherwise
• Assist with resident's personal laundry per laundry list by following standard procedures in use of laundry equipment
• With resident's consent, assist in keeping room, dresser drawers and closet in a clean and orderly manner
• Assist with bed making on a daily basis or as needed

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Prefer prior experience with medication administration
• Prefer previous experience, either professional, personal or volunteer, with the elderly population
