BROOME VOLUNTEER EMERGENCY SQUAD is Hiring an Assistant Director of Operations Near Binghamton, NY

Qualifications:
Certified NYS Paramedic (Required)
At least five years’ experience with a 911 transporting ambulance service as a medical provider
As an ADO, you must have exceptional leadership and management skills to motivate and guide workers
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Must be familiar with basic computer functions
Must have working knowledge of English language including reading, writing, and speaking
Special Requirements:
Emergency Medical Services is both a physically and emotionally demanding field. Must be able to maintain the physical and emotional strength to perform the duties of an active paramedic and supervisor Staff members who cannot physically or emotionally perform the tasks required must be relieved from duty, either voluntarily or involuntarily.
Responsibilities:
This person will be a part of the Operations Teams and will assist the Director of Operations
They will fulfill all DO’s responsibilities, with full authority, when the DO is not available
Responsible in supporting the Operations staff in providing excellent patient care and community service
During supervision of staff , will monitor to assure staff are emotionally and physically fit for duty. Will work with the DO and staff to assure that steps are taken to resolve issues with may interfere with fitness for duty. This includes releasing staff from their shift if they are not fit to continue. 
Will serve as a field supervisor, responding to critical incidents and monitoring patient care, as needed 
ADO will be involved with staffing, supply, rig assignment, problem solving, assisting on calls, reporting, enforcement of company policy, and other issues that arise operationally
Will address any problems, questions, concerns, or special needs through the DO when available
The ADO will have input on the structure of day to day operations
The ADO will report directly to the DO
The ADO will be responsible for the supervisory needs and responsibilities of a shift including directing personnel, assignments, filling open schedules as needed, and overseeing crew’s duties up to the point of disciplinary action if needed
Be actively involved with the research and ordering of large purchases
Overseeing provider training along with the ALS supervisor and the training supervisor.
Assist DO in monitoring trainee progress 
General Description:
This person will be a part of the Operations Team and will assist the Director of Operations. They will be scheduled shifts as fits the needs of the company. This person will be required to cover shifts on the ambulance in addition to office duties. 
The Assistant Director of Operations is responsible for building teamwork and supporting the work of the personnel in daily operations, as well as: 
• Routinely meeting and discussing issues of importance with personnel. 
• Developing positive working relations with all agencies that interact with BVES. 
• Representing and advocating for the needs of Operations
General Responsibilities: 
Responsible for supporting the Operations staff in providing excellent patient care and community service. Will be responsible for day-to-day issues. Assistant Director of Operations (ADO) may will be involved with staffing, supply, scheduling, rig assignment, problem-solving, assisting on calls, call evaluations, patient refusal assistance, reporting, enforcement of rules, and other issues that arise operationally. Will address any problems, questions, concerns, or special needs through the Executive Director when available. The ADO will have input on the structure of day-to-day Operations, which are reflected in the Agency’s policies/procedures/standards. The ADO may be responsible for making case-by-case decisions for daily operational issues, that are not clearly defined. The Assistant Director of Operations will report directly to the Executive Director. The Assistant Director of Operations is responsible for building teamwork and supporting the work of the personnel in daily operations, as well as: 
• Routinely meeting and discussing issues of importance with personnel. 
Serving as a field supervisor, responding to critical or problematic incidents and overseeing the provision of excellent patient care
• Developing positive working relations with all agencies that interact with BVES. 
• Representing and advocating for the needs of Operations. 
Working with the DO will ensure compliance with all DOH BEMS and Susquehanna REMAC policies and protocols.
Day To Day; 
• While on shift, may will assume the role of the person in charge of the shift. May be directly responsible for the assignments for the shift. 
• ADO will be responsible for the supervisory needs and responsibilities of a shift or shifts, including directing personnel, assignments, filling open schedules as needed, and overseeing crews' duties up to the point of disciplinary action if needed. 
• ADO will be actively involved in policy research and development. 
• Will be the Agency Controlled Substance Officer and oversee the management, storage, transportation, and handling of controlled substances. The Controlled Substance Officer's responsibility is to review all e-PCRs and attachments in which controlled substances were used. 
• The reports will be reviewed for: 
• Completeness of e-PCRs 
• Appropriate care and administration of the Medications. 
• Appropriate documentation 
• ADO will complete the report for the BVES NVSES Medical Director to review. Form DOH-3848 shall be filled out by the Controlled Substance Officer and submitted to the BVES Medical Director every July and January. 
• The ADO as the Controlled Substance Officer, must be approved by the NYS Department of Health, Controlled Substances Bureau. 
• Be actively involved with the research and ordering of large purchases.
 
Salary $65,000-$75,000 annually depending on experience
