Description of Responsibilities
The Patient Assistance Coordinator is responsible for the identification and provision of patient assistance through available channels which may include manufacturers and foundations. They coordinate with patients and/or providers to determine access to resources. They ensure appropriate documentation is received and utilized to support the use of the funds administered.
Responsibilities of the Patient Assistance Coordinator include the following:
1. Demonstrates understanding of the availability various programs in supporting patients with medication and health insurance assistance;
2. Demonstrates knowledge of the requirements of all programs regardless of source (e.g. manufacturers, foundations, etc..);
3. Coordinates with patients regarding eligibility requirements and facilitates the appropriate documentation for enrollment into the program;
4. Communicates with referral sources and facilitates the appropriate documentation for enrollment into the program;
5. Oversees all requests and ensures a judicious response to maximize the patient’s time to treatment;
6. Participates in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures;
7. Ensures all activities are conducted in a manner that is consistent with overall department protocol and are in compliance with Federal, State and payor regulations, guidelines and requirements;
8. Remains current with all patient assistance requirements, keeping up with all changes and communicating that information to all clinics as needed;
9. Assists in training other revenue cycle staff to provide consistency across the department;
10. Identifies opportunities to improve internal efficiencies and revenue opportunities across all clinics;
11. Assists other departments in maintaining a patient-centered facility;
12. Assists with audits and quality assurance functions;
13. Reports to the partners or their designee in a prompt, efficient manner with the proper disposition. This may include participation in routine management meetings, training oversight, report preparation, and coordination with other departments or personnel;
14. Other projects, activities, or responsibilities assigned at the discretion of the partners, their designee or supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
2. Computer literacy, including knowledge of software applications and familiarity with MS Office, electronic health records, internet, and mobile applications
3. A friendly personality with good people skills including team collaboration
4. Exhibits attention to detail and critical thinking problem solving
5. Excellent written communication skills

1. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as talk and hear.
2. Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to lift up to at least 25 pounds
