Brooks Winery is Hiring a Tasting Room Associate Near Amity, OR

POSITION NEEDED

Brooks Wines is seeking Tasting Room Associates to serve, educate, and entertain our guests as they experience our award-winning wines, robust culinary pairings, and incredible views. Two (2) Full Time positions are available at this time. Applicants with full time and part time availability are encouraged to apply. Weekend shifts are a priority.

ABOUT BROOKS

Brooks is a family-owned winery in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. To our knowledge, Brooks is the only winery in the world to be Demeter Certified for Biodynamics, a Member of 1% For The Planet, a Certified B Corporation, AND a partner with Ecologi. Brooks donates it’s 1% proceeds to Kiss The Ground, a media and education non-profit focused on regenerative agriculture. More about our commitments can be found on our impact page on our website. Our model is different compared to most tasting rooms as we offer table-side service for three monthly flights, wine by the glass, and bottle service as well as monthly food pairing options to complement the wine.

Brooks is a very fast-paced, busy tasting room. We have twice been named one of Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wineries in the world.

Open everyday from 11AM - 5PM.

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 2 years of restaurant serving and/or tasting room experience is strongly preferred.
  • Wine knowledge is a huge plus.
  • OLCC Service Permit (or ability to get)
  • OR Food Handler (or ability to get)
  • Must be charismatic, productive, and adaptable to change.
  • Must have a strong sense of accountability. (We all make mistakes, but it is important to own up to those mistakes and work together to fix them.)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following reflects the essential functions for this job. Other tasks may be assigned from time to time.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • First and foremost, bring a smile, suggestions, and a sense of camaraderie with you to each of your shifts. We work with wine! It should be joyful and fun!
  • Greet all visitors with enthusiasm and within one minute of arrival
  • Lead guests through wine tasting flights while educating them about the winery story, wines, commitments, events, wine club, and other offerings.
  • Ensure a fun and memorable customer experience.
  • Developing relationships with guests to convert into Wine Club members
  • Effectively sell wine, with the ability to “up-sell"
  • Set up / breaking down all indoor and outdoor tasting room spaces.
  • Open and verify condition of wines, decanting when appropriate.
  • Prepare printed guest materials.
  • Open/Close POS system/registers.
  • Manage cash drawer.
  • Stock wine and merchandise on Tasting Room floor and store rooms
  • Perform sales transactions for food and wine and for carry-out and shipping orders
  • Maintain clean and organized guest spaces at all times
  • Provide warm, engaging and professional customer service with the ability to develop rapport with customers
  • Assist with monthly inventory
  • Conduct Winery Tours in a professional, engaging and informative manner
  • Provide exceptional service and "go the extra mile" for all guests
  • Represent the winery at outside functions when necessary
  • Quickly recognize the signs that a guest should not be served alcohol, take appropriate action to professionally address.
  • Behave in a professional and mature manner at all times

EXPECTATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have or actively seek excellent knowledge of wine and pairings with enthusiasm and continually learn new information and share
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (via telephone, e-mail, slack app, and face-to-face) are required
  • Enthusiastic, passionate and dynamic communication style
  • Comfortable speaking in front of crowds
  • Self-aware, able to work independently, and driven to make a difference
  • Must have a positive attitude and outlook with the ability to work within a team atmosphere
  • Must remain calm under pressure. Brooks has a very busy tasting room.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
