9-12th Grade School Counselor Roles and Responsibilities:
Administer all guidance and counseling services required by the Board, Administration and DOE policy
Maintain student confidentiality
Oversee and support Anti-Bullying and Anti-Harassment Plan with support of other counseling staff
Investigate and report bullying and harassment claims
Manage counseling and support services
Provide counseling (individual, group, crisis)
Perform transcript evaluations with the assistance of guidance support staff member
Plan courses and schedules
Monitor student progress (including, but not limited to, creation of and oversight of student academic contracts)
Maintain regular communication with parents of at-risk students
Serve as academic advisor (under-performing students, enrichment opportunities)
Provide individual student academic program planning
Coordinate 504 plans and programming
Attend IEP and RTI meetings as necessary Provide attendance interventions
Attend Parent-Teacher conferences as necessary
Attend subject area leader meetings as necessary
Make referrals to appropriate support agencies for families and students
Coordinate and review all schedule changes Provide attendance interventions
Coordinate FLVS enrollment
Provide training and support to instructional staff as needed (including but not limited to staff and faculty meetings and departmental meeting presentations)
Plan and implement classroom guidance lessons and school-wide character development programming with support of other counseling staff
Maintain Office of Student Services’ external website
