Brooks Applied Labs (BAL) is an industry leader offering many specialized and unique analytical services, including low-level trace metals quantification in complex matrices and metals speciation for elements such as As, Cr, Hg, and Se. The chemist filling this position will have the opportunity to develop an expertise in routine and novel analytical methodologies, primarily using FTIR and ICPMS, for the detection of microplastics in various matrices. Responsibilities include working closely with the Technical Director to develop new methods that would expand the services offered by BAL, mentoring other chemists on the use of those methods, and making presentations for our clients as necessary.

Requirements:

• PhD in chemistry, environmental science, or a closely-related field.

• At least 3 years of experience with ICP-MS or Atomic Fluorescence.

• Direct experience with microplastics analyses and characterization.

• Experience with EPA Methods and QA/QC protocols (required).

• Demonstrated ability to successfully write new and follow established SOPs.

• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at the same time.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The pay rate for this position ranges between $75,000 - $90,000, annually. Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits after a brief waiting period: medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability insurance, 401(k), health and dependent care FSA plans, employee assistance program, 15 days of paid time off per year for sick leave and/or vacation, 3 days paid bereavement leave, and 6 paid holidays per year.
