Brooklyn Public Library is seeking an Environmental Community Organizer to engage Greenpoint residents in environmental and health issues. This new, one-year grant funded part-time position is supervised by BPLs Environmental Justice Coordinator and based at Greenpoint Library and Environmental Education Center.
The Organizer will be responsible for building relationships with Greenpoint residents, especially within the Polish-speaking communities, to share environmental and health information and resources. The primary focus of this organizing will initially be around the Meeker Avenue Plume, which the EPA added to the Superfund programs National Priorities List in 2022. The Organizer will work closely with the Librarys existing coalition of neighborhood environmental advocacy groups and City, State and Federal agency partners, as well as build new relationships, to ensure Greenpoint residents are fully aware of all the information and resources available to them.

This is a one-year grant funded position. The work week is up to 19 hours per week. The salary range is $30 - $35/hr.
