POSITION: Executive Director of Enterprise Strategy and Information Technology

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Operations

STATUS: Full Time, Exempt

RANGE: $175,000 - $190,000

The Executive Director of Enterprise Strategy and Information Technology will lead strategy, implementation, and operations of enterprise applications and IT infrastructure for Brooklyn Law School. The Executive Director will lead in fostering a technology environment which allows the law school community to succeed in their scholarship, study of law and research, and day-to-day performance. The Executive Director will engage with multiple law school stakeholders, ensuring that services meet operational and technological needs while adhering to industry best practices, security, and regulatory compliance standards.

The ED will lead with an emphasis on creating an environment in which faculty and students will have opportunities to succeed in their scholarship, study of law and research, and effectively and efficiently perform work through services delivery excellence. The ED engages with multiple law school stakeholders, ensuring that application services meet operational and technological needs while adhering to industry best practices, security, and regulatory compliance standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Directs the work of the developers under the Enterprise Applications team and/or contracted vendors to ensure proper functionality, maintenance, security and monitoring of the enterprise applications and their systems integration.
  • Directly responsible for the direction and management of the IT Infrastructure team, leads in the development of infrastructure technology goals and objectives and leads the implementation and maintenance of supporting technologies, such as the law school (data) networks (wired and wireless), telecommunications, internet connectivity, virtualized server and storage both on-premises and in the public cloud and other critical systems.
  • Collaborates with leadership in the delivery of actionable technology roadmap that support the school’s mission and goals.
  • Delivers effective application development and support for campus information systems, including ERP, LMS, Document Management, CRM, SIS etc.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors strategic, comprehensive application plans that ensures that Brooklyn Law School applications meet ongoing and evolving business and IT requirements.
  • Liaise with Student Affairs division to ensure applications are compliant with all relevant regulation (FERPA, ADA, PCI etc.) and ensures that applications meet or exceed expectations of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Manages and exercises oversight of the application groups project portfolio and technology team.
  • Monitors technology trends in the industry generally and in higher education specifically. Stays abreast of advances in the technology industry through regular conference attendance and other research and information channels.
  • Evaluates, selects, and manages technology vendors, service providers and related contracts to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and solutions.
  • Must bring a commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science or Management Information Systems; or appropriate combination of education and experience
  • 8 years of IT positions with increasing levels of responsibility and two years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CRM, ERP functionality, including financial, HR, and SIS data structures and reporting
  • Must have experience with desktop support and AV systems.
  • Fully knowledgeable of the software development life cycle, structured analysis, design and programming techniques, programming languages, file access methods, web-based tools/solutions, system utilities and development tools, application software packages, and packages used in development or support of production systems.
  • Designing and deploying infrastructure in a hybrid-cloud environment, documented on-premise and cloud infrastructure administration experience
  • Experience in IT service management and IT process development and improvement.
  • Exhibits strong project management skills: financial/budget management, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and requirements to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Demonstrated diplomacy, discretion, and tact.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of service level agreements
  • Experience with ITSM
  • Understanding of endpoint management and standardization
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of ERP environments.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Ellucian products and services.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft development, email, web, and collaboration platforms like Microsoft 365 and the traditional Office suite
  • Database architecture experience including both transactional and data warehousing design and support.
  • Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, ITIL, COBIT and NIST.
  • Professional certifications, such as PMP, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, CIPP, a plus.

Direct Reports

A team of IT professionals will report to this role.

Work environment

The work environment includes outdoor and indoor areas. Indoors may include small and or enclosed spaces. Exposure to environmental conditions expected.

Remote capabilities

This position is not eligible for hybrid/remote initially. Possible hybrid schedule can be discussed.

Physical demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Periods standing outdoors in the heat or cold.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel

Some travel may be required to conferences and peer site visits
