We are looking for a Instructional Designer - Online Programs/Courses to join out team.

This position supports the online learning platform, courses and faculty, and Academic Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Develops courses within the institution’s designated Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Prepares the components of a course including an overview, syllabus, learning outcomes, course content, proficiency assessments, and interactive activities
  • Create, publish and manage eLearning content
  • Design a variety of instructional materials for traditional instructor-led courses, online programs, web-based learning aids or products, and other programs as needed
  • Attend curriculum committee meetings and ensure approved changes in curriculum are reflected
  • Facilitate the use of effective instructional approaches in the design and development of online courses
  • Assist the team in selecting suitable course materials and ensure that the course design is adhering to established standards and quality vision
  • Responsible for the overall look and feel of online courses
  • Develops instructional and training materials
  • Operates within a course production framework that is flexible and dynamic to allow for changes in technology, student/faculty expectations, changes to pedagogy, new curriculum, maintenance and improvement
  • Delivers courses per a program/course development schedule and budget to meet the needs of the institution
  • Develops and maintains a course design model that reflects best practices in the delivery of higher education degree and certificate programs and uses known instructional design models
  • Actively creates and contributes to ongoing documentation, training, and knowledgebase
  • Write and copy edit content for correct grammar, punctuation, style and accuracy
  • Manage rounds of edits and revision throughout the content development process, and be accountable for content quality
  • Oversees project management for courses from inception to completion, and is able to communicate progress to director. This also includes planning for potential concerns and preparing work-arounds to meet deadlines
  • Participates in team planning sessions to implement productive solutions to new technology and functional requirements
  • Participate, as needed, in the testing and piloting of new educational tools and features of new learning platforms. Make recommendations on applications of these tools
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends in online instruction pedagogy and tools, particularly those related to online copyright issues, accessibility, and the use of open educational resources
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in instructional design, education, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience designing and delivering training programs required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in training content management or other management experience
  • Experience in instructional design and with instructional technology
  • Experience with multimedia authoring programs
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Knowledge of course development software and working experience with at least one Learning Management System
  • Proficient knowledge of database structure
  • Maintain confidentiality of information processed or prepared
  • Proven project management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and decision making skills required
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders
  • Ability to easily adapt to and learn new technologies
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills
