Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in the oncology department, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with procedures.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Educate patients and their families about the treatment plan, side effects, and self-care measures.
- Perform venipuncture and administer chemotherapy drugs as ordered by the physician.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Stay updated on the latest oncology treatments, standards of care, and research findings.
Requirements:
- Valid RN license in the state of New York.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in oncology nursing.
- Proficient in performing venipuncture and administering chemotherapy drugs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with electronic health record systems.
- Familiarity with procedures such as spinal taps and bone marrow biopsies is a plus.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
