Overview

To provide oversight of the ambulatory social work services at BronxCare Health System. To supervise and provide direction for the clinical as well as administrative function of the social work services provided in ambulatory care, including billable services.

Responsibilities

Overall direction of Concourse and Fulton Division Social Work clerical and professional staff within the department to ensure that Social Work standards of performance, objectives and fulfillment of responsibilities are met. Reviews and update Social Work policies and procedures, staff job descriptions, performance improvement measurement and monitors compliance with standards of care annually. Overall responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of Social Work inservice education and staff development to promote and enhance Social Work skills, knowledge and resources. Conducts monthly staff meetings to apprise staff of hospital-wide performance improvement activities and initiatives. Participates in cross training of staff and in the development of educational programs for staff.Determines the goals, objectives and programming for the ambulatory social work staff, including both Concourse and Fulton outpatient social service programs. Responsible for oversight of established policies and for providing overall direction in the continuing operation of ambulatory social work services. Monitors staffing patterns and patient census/visits in the inpatient/outpatient clinics to maximize efficiency. Collaborates with other administrators to ensure that all programs are complying with funding mandates and hospital policies/procedures. Collaborates with other administrators and department leaders to ensure that patient needs are met. Supervises professional staff including Social Workers, CASACs, Social Work Assistants, Mental Health Workers, Health Educators and Counselors. Evaluates clinical staff performance through the ongoing provision of Supervision and consultation with the Assistant Vice President, Clinical Services, and administrative Medical and Psychiatric Social Work staff. Assists in interviewing, selecting and hiring permanent and grant funded staff. Reviews administrative and ambulatory social work staff performance appraisals annually. 

Qualifications

At least 5 years in clinical social work service.
