Brockton Area Multi-Servi is Hiring an Occupational Therapist Near Brockton, MA

Full or Part Time

BAMSI Early Intervention (BEI) is a program for infants and toddlers (birth to 3 years old), who experience development delays or are at risk for developmental delay. BEI services can be provided in a family's home, daycare/educational programs, telehealth and are fully our fully equipped EI Center. BAMSI EI services has a highly skilled team using an interdisciplinary approach team including:

  • Developmental Specialist
  • Physical Therapist
  • Speech and Language Pathologist
  • Child Life Specialist
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Social Worker/Licensed Mental Health Counselor
  • Nurse
  • Specialty Service Providers

Early Intervention clinical trainings includes 0-3 development, specialized therapeutic techniques, family focused treatment and IFSP development. Willing to train candidates who meet the qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform functional assessments with families
  2. Participate in standardized evaluations with interdisciplinary team.
  3. Conduct informal assessments of family and child’s needs.
  4. Develop, write and implement IFSP’s for infants and young children.
  5. Participate in multi-disciplinary team and provide consultation, training, and supervision to other staff members.
  6. Provide center and home base services, group and individual treatment.
  7. Design and implement appropriate home programs to families.
  8. Complete reports, record progress and interpret reports to families and other staff members.
  9. Plan and participate in specialized child groups.
  10. Fulfill electronic health record keeping requirements
  11. Participate in staff meetings, supervision and training along with other staff development activities.
  12. Provide support and assistance to parents regarding child development and learning, advocacy, and community awareness.
  13. Provide consultation and education to staff and families regarding general or case specific psychosocial issues.
  14. Work with community resources and referral sources for children and families, providing input and/or consultation to other agencies to aid in defining needs.
  15. Serve as advocate for parents and child’s first 766 evaluations when leaving the Early Childhood Intervention program.
  16. Perform duties consistent with agency/program policies and procedures.
  17. Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards. Standard precautions must be utilized and training obtained in areas that constitute risk.
  18. Perform other related work duties as needed or as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Qualifications:

  • Massachusetts license as Occupational Therapist required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in state of residence and have own means of transportation.
  • Must have accurate or correctable auditory and visual abilities to observe children and maintain safety.
  • On an infrequent basis, must be able to respond rapidly to safeguard children during an emergency including thereat of fire, disaster or imminent danger. Emergency response may require running, carrying or lifting children. Must be able to react quickly to prevent injury or harm to a child.
  • On a moderate to frequent basis, must have the ability to move quickly to reach a child who may need assistance. 
  • Provide support and assistance to parents regarding child development and learning advocacy an community awareness.
  • Work with communities resources and referral sources and children and families, providing input or consultation to other agencies to aid in defining needs.
  • Must be able to stoop, squat, sit or otherwise position self to closely interact with children.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, stretch and participate in play
