Broadleaf Results is Hiring an Electronic Test Technician Near Baltimore, MD

Job Overview:
Purpose: She/He will support Testing and Commissioning and Warranty of recently overhauled Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs). The successful candidate will primarily support the commissioning and warranty activities for the MTA Light Rail Vehicle overhaul contract. Skillsets sought are those with a electro-mechanical background primarily and can include electronic, and communication troubleshooting as required. This may include the use of portable test equipment (laptops mostly with vendor software), multi-meters and meggers. Be able to have or obtain knowledge that can easily translate to other special test equipment or software utilized in testing for train failures (wire tracer for example). The employee will actively monitor failures statically (in the shop) or dynamically (testing in the maintenance yard are on mainline with supported test blocks arranged). Other work may include performing engineering modifications to the wiring or components as outline with engineering instructions or as directed by the Depot Manager.

  • Follow basic electronic schematics and troubleshoot to the component level.
  • Be able to run data log files for review.
  • Be adept at changing electrical/electronic components
  • Have good mechanical skills and knowledge of basic hand and power tools
  • Have knowledge of torquing and using torque wrenches

  • Flexibility in working at the Baltimore and Glen Burnie locations as needed

  • Ability to support warranty repairs in an accurate and timely manner

Useful skills:

  • Good computer skill level with MS Word and Excel
  • Basic understanding of shop rules and regulations (knowledge of railcar environment a plus)
  • Retrieving and analyzing diagnostic logs
  • Familiarity with basic Ethernet communications, protocols and managed network switch setup
  • Knowledge and practice of cabling and connection methods
  • Familiarity of uploading software to embedded Unix-based and WinCE devices using Vendor instructions
  • Use of basic network diagnostic tools (Ping, traceroute, Wireshark, Fluke network tools, etc.)
  • Knowledge and use of the different types of fasteners and hardware and the applicable tools used, including how to torque and how to safety wire
  • Use of forklift or other material handling equipment is a plus

  • Promptly report to your supervisor/manager all accidents, incidents, product safety issues and work related ill health or near misses that you witness or are involved with.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Highschool or GED and mechanical trade school
  • Experience in electronics, troubleshooting of components.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
