Bristol Tennessee City School System is Hiring a Principal - Middle School Near Tennessee, TN

Seeking a dynamic middle school principal to engage, challenge, and inspire a student body of approximately 900 in grades 6-8. The successful candidate must have a minimum master's degree with three years of successful teaching experience and hold a valid Tennessee license with appropriate administrative endorsement. Previous administrative experience preferred. This position will start with the 2024-2025 school year. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMaster’s degree required; doctorate degree preferredFive years’ successful teaching or administrative experience requiredProfessional experience in a high school setting strongly preferredValid Tennessee administrative license endorsementSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable REPORTS TO Director of Schools and Secondary Supervisor JOB GOAL To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Provides leadership and assumes responsibility for recommendations for employment, supervision, and evaluation of all staff assigned to the school.Submits recommendations to the director of schools, through the secondary supervisor, regarding the appointment, assignment, promotion, transfer, and dismissal of all personnel assigned to the school.Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of personalized learning opportunities for every student; promotes digital citizenship.Supervises and evaluates the performance of the assistant principals, program assistants, and counseling staff.Supervises the discipline and maintenance of records concerning student behavior and action taken. Ensures consistency among administrators issuing consequences for disciplinary infractions.Informs the director of schools and/or secondary supervisor on matters concerning the progress and condition of the total school program.Conducts a continuing evaluation of the effectiveness of the educational program in meeting the needs of the students assigned to the school.Manages and understands school data and uses the data to make informed school decisions.Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.Interprets the various educational programs and activities to the patrons of the school.Recommends to the Board, through the director of schools, the dismissal of any student whose continued compulsory attendance is detrimental to good order, discipline, and instruction.Approves and oversees all requests for instructional supplies, capital outlay equipment, and maintenance.Keeps the director of schools and/or secondary supervisor informed of internal affairs of the school, including any regulations, policies, or instruction that adversely affects the students and staff members of the school.Serves as the agency of communication between the director of schools and individual staff members, parents, and students with regard to official school business.Prepares and manages school budgets and supervises school finances.Establishes procedures to maintain and protect school property from loss, misuse, or damage.Informs the director of schools and/or secondary supervisor promptly of cases of extreme danger or disaster where it would be necessary to set aside any rule or regulation.Serves as ex-officio member of each committee that involves staff, students, or parents, and be present or have a designated representative present at meetings which involve activities sponsored by the school.Sets annual goals and objectives for school and self-improvement.Assumes responsibility for the in-service activities of the school.Schedules and conducts local school administrative staff and total staff meetings on a regular basis.Supervises the activities of student council, clubs, and all school-sponsored organizations.Supervises all student activities including fund raising, social events, and performing groups.Conducts regular inspection of areas served by the cleaning services.Assumes responsibility for the care and inventory of equipment and other items which are assigned to the school.Supervises the security program for the school.Maintains a monthly and yearly calendar of events.Attends Board meetings and PTA Council meetings.Performs such other duties as may reasonably be prescribed by the director or secondary supervisor.
