Bristol Tennessee City School System is Hiring an Assistant Volleyball Coach - THS Near Bristol, TN

Assist the head volleyball coach in overseeing the volleyball program at Tennessee High School. Previous volleyball coaching experience required. See the job description below for more information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Previous volleyball coaching experience required.
  2. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  3. Valid Tennessee teaching certificate preferred
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide overall leadership, supervision, and coordination of the volleyball program.
  2. To provide and atmosphere that promotes the development of skills necessary to allow student athletes to participate at a competitive level.
  3. To provide a volleyball program that is an extension of the overall academic program at Tennessee High School.
  4. To provide a volleyball program that emphasizes academics, discipline, high morals, and team play.
  5. To provide a volleyball program that builds a strong foundation that will prepare our student-athletes to become productive citizens.
  6. To provide a volleyball program that promotes integrity and sportsmanship and teaches student-athletes to be aware that doing the right thing is more important than the outcome of a game.
  7. To provide a volleyball program that promotes work ethic, “Viking Pride,” and a competitive nature.

PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS

  1. To be a person of high moral character and integrity.
  2. To be loyal to the head coach and the administration of Tennessee High School and Bristol Tennessee City Schools.
  3. To represent Tennessee High School and Bristol Tennessee City Schools in a professional manner when dealing with students, parents, community members or other schools.
  4. To maintain the integrity of Tennessee High School and Bristol Tennessee City Schools by complying with all TSSAA rules and regulations.
  5. To treat students in a dignified manner at all times and in all situations.
  6. To create a climate that emphasizes discipline and hard work on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist the head coach to evaluate and formulate an improvement plan for the overall volleyball program.
  2. Provide supervision of student-athletes involved in Tennessee High Volleyball.
  3. Assist the head coach with practices.
  4. Assist the head coach with coordinating all game day activities.
  5. Promote the volleyball program in both the school and the community and serve as the spokesperson in the area of public relations for Tennessee High Volleyball.
  6. Work cooperatively with school staff, student-athletes, and parents in promoting Tennessee High Volleyball.
  7. Work cooperatively with coaches of other sports to ensure the overall success of Tennessee High Athletics.
  8. Perform all duties assigned by the head coach.
  9. Maintain and oversee the safety conditions of all dressing rooms, facilities, and equipment used by Tennessee High Volleyball.
  10. Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  11. Enforce the code of conduct and expectations for the Tennessee High Volleyball program.
  12. Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the athletic director.
  13. Ensure accident/injury reports are submitted to the athletic office in a prompt manner.
  14. Assist with the development and implementation of the off-season strength and conditioning program.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are:
