Senior Manager, North American Operations, Scheduling & Cell Logistics (SCLT)

The Position:  

The Senior Manager, North American Operations, Scheduling & Cell Logistics (SCLT) is responsible for building and managing a high-functioning team of Operations Specialists and Managers, who serve as the primary points of contact for our manufacturing and logistics partners, both internally and externally, in order to manage and mitigate patient scheduling issues in real-time. The Senior Manager will ensure this team is trained and supported in order to handle, triage, and action a high volume of phone calls and emails daily. This person must maintain strong relationships with partners across the commercial franchise, the manufacturing and supply chain organizations, and other partner teams to ensure best-in-class customer service is delivered to our patient treatment centers around the world.

  • Position is office-based with in-office attendance required a minimum of 60% of the time. Remote work must be performed at home with a consistent office setup and internet access, as extensive work at computers and phones is essential to job function. 
  • Weekend and holiday on-call support is required as assigned.
  • Domestic and international travel is possible, but will not exceed 15%.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 
  • 7 years of work experience in scheduling, planning, operations, logistics, and/or supply chain 
  • 2 years managing direct reports, direct or indirect management of multiple teams is preferred
  • Experience working in APEX, Salesforce CRM, Oracle, SAP, and/or other comparable planning/scheduling/execution systems is preferred
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (cGMP/FDA) is required
  • Must have strong proficiency with Office 365 software, especially Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Responsibilities:

  • Directly oversee two Managers, each of whom leads a team of 5-10 Operations Specialists, located in Seattle, WA and Summit, NJ
  • Influence day-to-day operations through a strong sense of leadership and manage first and second level escalations, including urgent escalations and business continuity events
  • Act as SCLT’s primary relationship owner with all internal and external Cell Therapy Manufacturing Sites and Couriers located in North America
  • Develop and lead a weekly Manufacturing Site Review to consolidate and escalate shared issues, so that SCLT can plan accordingly and mitigate impact to Patient Treatment Sites
  • Accountable for team performance and regional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Manage process improvement projects at the departmental level, or cross-functionally with regional partners
  • Hire and/or develop direct and indirect reports
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive and professional team atmosphere
  • Manage given resources and identify resources needs
  • Ensure direct reports and their teams are properly trained and are aligned with SCLT strategy
  • Lead and provide cross-regional support, as required
  • Communicate issues and resolutions with management and key internal and external stakeholders
  • Analyze trends and develop action plans from feedback, operational metrics, and KPIs
  • Set and manage team goals aligned with SCLT strategy
  • Plan and facilitate Global SCLT meetings for Managers and Senior Managers
  • Provide weekly updates on team projects and goals to regional heads
  • Provide input into goals and plans to deliver on SCLT strategy
  • Manage relationships with regional partners as assigned
  • Act as SME on global projects as assigned
  • Develop and gather endorsement for business cases for transformational projects
  • Mentor/lead at least one cross-region working group

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Highly self-motivated, self-aware, and professional 
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills 
  • Able to lead a team of professionals directly and through a matrixed organization 
  • Must be skilled in planning and organizing, conflict management, decision-making, building relationships, innovation management, and resource allocation
  • Flexibility in responding to changing business needs
  • Eager to work with teams from other regions and cultures 
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability 
  • Able to work independently and in groups

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $114,000 - $144,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and the geographic location where work is performed.
