BrightView Health is Hiring an Associate General Counsel and Director of Advocacy Near Columbus, OH

Position Summary:

The Associate General Counsel and Director of Advocacy will be responsible for understanding the federal and state laws and regulations that impact BrightView’s business and developing strategies to affect meaningful change in support of our goal to bring the highest-quality substance use disorder treatment to as many patients as possible. This role will also include various legal responsibilities in support of internal departments including mergers and acquisitions, real estate leasing, contract administration, and human resources. This role works closely with the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and other members of the executive team on legal matters and advocacy initiatives that support the values and mission of BrightView.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Develop a detailed understanding of the legal, regulatory and reimbursement framework applicable to BrightView’s business in all the jurisdictions in which the Company operates;
  • Identify key barriers to the expansion of Brightview’s business model including insufficient reimbursement schemes, and unnecessary, duplicative or inconsistent regulatory burdens;
  • Identify influential industry advocacy groups, lobbyists and other stakeholders who support BrightView’s mission;
  • Work with internal and external subject matter experts to influence policy-making bodies, regulatory agencies, and state and federal legislators to reduce barriers to care, improve the reimbursement landscape, and address workforce shortages;
  • Be a key company leader advocating for positive change to support BrightView’s values and mission.
  • Prepare draft and amended legislation and regulations to address existing burdens;
  • Provide legal support to internal BrightView clients including the Development, Human Resources, and Quality and Compliance teams; and
  • Perform other legal tasks as assigned.

Travel Requirements:
Occasional.

Required Education/Degree:
Juris Doctorate from Accredited Law School

Required Certification/License:
Attorney licensed to practice law and in good standing in one or more of the jurisdictions in which Brightview operates (OH, KY, VA, MA, NC, DE, CT).

Preferred Work Experience:
Five or more years of experience in government affairs, lobbying, and/or healthcare practice in a law firm. Experience with substance use disorder/behavioral health regulatory framework is a plus.
