Independent Living Activity Coordinator

River Landing is seeking an activities coordinator, experienced in working with active, vibrant seniors in our Independent Living. River Landing at Sandy Ridge is a continuing care retirement community located Colfax, NC, close to Greensboro, High Point, and Winston Salem. We are a Presbyterian-based, privately held not-for-profit organization which provides an outstanding and caring work environment.  Job Requirements

▪ Experienced in event and activity planning.
▪ Must be an empathetic, passionate listener. One of the most important components to River Landing’s unique atmosphere is the fact that our activities and events are primarily driven by our residents. The perfect match will solicit those ideas and translate them into the execution of exceptional events. This person must be a master facilitator.
▪ Must be proficient in windows and Microsoft Office including Microsoft Publisher.
▪ Responsible for learning and mastering the sound system used for performances in our Auditorium and Classroom spaces. Experience preferred.
▪ Organization and the ability to prioritize are critical. The ability to multi-task and “switch gears” multiple times a day is a must.
▪ A high level of ability in effective and succinct communication, written and oral (with residents, families, staff, vendors and the general public) is required.
▪ College degree or 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
▪ Candidate must have a valid DL and be able to successfully pass a motor vehicle record check, drug screen, TB Test, and background check to be eligible for employment.
Job Duties
✓ Responsible for scheduling and implementing the Activity Program for our Independent Living Residents (500 ). Planning of events includes arranging for outside entertainers/presenters etc. to come into the community to perform; scheduling resident group activities such as band practice, chorus practice, drama group performances, lifelong learning classes, and scheduling outside trips, which includes one to two overnight trips per year.
✓ Prepares monthly newsletter for distribution to all residents.
✓ Scheduling of common spaces for resident events; assisting in the planning and promotion of those events.
✓ Meet with residents one-on-one frequently.
✓ Maintain inventory of supplies needed for events and activities. Adhere to a budget when purchasing supplies, ordering event tickets, etc.
✓ Post announcements, calendars, and schedules of events on an in-house TV channel, digital signage, and resident portal website.
✓ Assist residents with technology needs for performances & presentations.
