BRIGHTRIDGE is Hiring a Meter Technician III Near Johnson, TN

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for testing, calibrating, and repairing electric meters. Responds to consumer inquiries about metering and billing. Monitors power quality of both single and three phase systems. Installs metering for residential, commercial, and industrial consumers. Performs load control equipment installation and maintenance. Aids AMI Manager in maintaining inventory of metering equipment and supplies. Performs other job duties as assigned by AMI Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists AMI Manager in directing the work of metering personnel and reports daily Meter Shop operations to the manager (Position has no authority in tangible employment actions including hiring, firing, promoting, reassigning significantly different tasks, or causing changes to benefits, but may be involved in directing day-to-day operations of employees).
  • Aids in Meter Shop inventory control and management
  • Monitors the MDM and Tantalus AMI Dashboard on a daily basis and follow up on non-reporting meters or other issues identified
  • Monitors the overall operation of AMI system and maintain as necessary
  • Works with Billing Department to resolve any meter data issues
  • Reviews all meters installed and makes changes, as needed
  • Reads power and solid state recorders; calculates power reading of revenue meters for billing purposes
  • Aids in the training of Meter Technician I and Meter Technician II metering personnel
  • Assists in meter shop.
  • Tests meters and CTs (current transformers) and PTs (potential transformers)
  • Prepares reports (including meter test results, job details and inventory) as required
  • Develops programing parameters for meters, specialty metering equipment (including Load Profile, Pulse Metering, etc.), AMI modules and other AMI equipment and program as necessary
  • Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots load control equipment
  • Performs duties of Meter Technician II or AMI Technician as directed by AMI Manager
  • Installs metering equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial consumers
  • Ability to maintain reliable, predictable, and reasonable attendance
  • Maintain a professional work environment that promotes safety, accuracy and efficiency
  • Adhere to BrightRidge safety guidelines and best practices for performing work

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attends meetings, seminars, schools, or training, etc., as determined by AMI Manager or as required by law
  • Maintain any assigned vehicle
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned
  • Must be available for after-hours work which would include working fair share of all necessary overtime
  • Maintain a valid driver's license from state of residence

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have working knowledge of the principles of electricity, measurements of electricity and electrical distribution systems
  • Must have working knowledge of three-phase metering as well as all types of three-phase services
  • Must have working knowledge of wire sizes
  • Must be able to use all equipment related to the job
  • Must have working knowledge of transformer banking, CT-PT capacity and ratios, all types of metering (single-phase, poly-phase, secondary and primary), proper wire size, all measurements of electricity and correct wiring as applied to meter installations
  • Must have a working knowledge of AMI systems, specifically Tantalus AMI
  • Must be able to adapt to, understand and master changing technology
  • Must be able to work energized circuits safely
  • Must be able to use all equipment related to the job
  • Must be willing and able to train BrightRidge personnel as required
  • Must be computer proficient and versed in the latest version of Windows and Microsoft Office and other required software applications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to occasionally lift and carry a maximum of 40 pounds. Must be able to stand for up to 30 minutes. Position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, handling, pick/pinch and fine manipulation. Requires constant vision and depth perception. Requires occasional kneeling/squatting and head and neck rotation and bending

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Approximately 40% of this position is performed outside in varying weather conditions. The other 60% is performed inside in the meter shop with appropriate lighting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Pass a color blindness screening
  • Four years' prior experience as a Meter Technician II or equivalent
