The Director of Education and Child Development Services is responsible for the coordination, planning and operation of Early Childhood Education centers in the Metro Chicago region (Palatine, Schaumburg and Carpentersville). This position will directly supervise the centers Site Managers and Education Manager. The Director of Education and Child Development Services will also engage in strategic planning and collaboration with other members of the Education leadership team, funders, and community partners to ensure goals and outcomes are achieved for all children and families. This position will report to the Vice President of Region.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee planning and operation of program activities provided at early childhood education centers in the Metro Chicago region.
  • Supervise Site Managers, and other directors, managers, and administrative staff, as assigned, in the Chicago – Metro region and performance of their duties on a regular basis. This includes implementing the agency’s personnel policies and practices, hiring and training staff, performance appraisals, performance improvement plans, approval of timecards, leaves, promotions, salary changes, terminations, and documentation of all personnel actions.
  • Provide coaching and reflective supervision to assigned staff.
  • Provide direction and assists site managers to structure environments, routines, and interactions that contribute to positive social-emotional outcomes for the children and families in the programs.
  • Engage in strategic planning and collaboration with other members of the Leadership team, funders, and community partners to ensure goals and outcomes are achieved for all children and families.
  • Ensure that developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning models are implemented with fidelity at all centers/sites. 
  • Facilitate continuing professional development, including securing training and technical assistance for education staff.
  • Frequently monitor all program locations to ensure a safe and enriching for children and families.
  • Establish, maintain, and comply with credential and educational requirements for education staff.
  • Ensure full compliance with National Association for the Education of Young children (NAEYC), Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Monitor compliance with all funding contracts and grant requirements and ensures that all program plans and required reports are submitted in a timely manner.
  • In collaboration with the Leadership Team, develops internal procedures and service delivery systems to ensure the effective functioning of 0-5 programs in compliance with all funding and licensing sources.
  • Develop and monitor linkage agreements and maintains relationships with other community providers.
  • Participate in the development and management of the program budget, including monitoring, and approving program expenses; works closely with agency departments and staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of fiscal reporting.
  • Assist with grant applications, as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and other essential documents and correspondence as required by funding sources and by Brightpoint.
  • Oversee data and reporting systems to support program.

Candidate qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field required -OR- Master's degree preferred.
  • At least five years’ experience in early childhood programs, required.
  • At least three years’ experience in an early childhood administrative/supervisory role in early childhood programs required, preferably in a multi-site program with multiple funding sources. 
  • Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.

Job details:

  • CompensationSalary Range $83k to $90k; offers are commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience.

  • Schedule: Full-time, salaried. Regular business hours with occasional remote flexibility.
