The Teacher Assistant is a critical member of the Scott Child & Family Center Team, using Early Head Start, and Creative Curriculum® to enhance the physical, emotional, and cognitive growth of children through play and hands-on experiences. As a Teacher Assistant, you will gain experience in an early childhood classroom and be supported in working towards your career goals in the Early Childhood field. The Teacher Assistant will provide a learning environment that is safe/inclusive for all students and assist with the completion of applicable screenings and evaluations, and document results.

Candidate qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate with some related life experiences or completion of child care course. Child Development Associate (CDA) with a plan to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development OR Associate’s Degree currently in progress preferred.
  • Strongly believe that social skills, self-regulation, and emotional development are just as important as reading and math readiness in successfully preparing children for kindergarten.
  • A warm, open communication style and can easily build rapport with both children and adults.
  • Attentive to detail, organized, and self-motivated.

Job details:

  • Compensation: Salary: $16.31/hr.
  • Location: Classroom setting (1119 E. Taylor, Bloomington, IL 61701).
  • Schedule: Part-time, hourly.
