Permanent Substitute - Preschool

It is the goal of The New Century School to provide a safe, warm, fun, nurturing and highly creative environment that is also culturally, academically, and spiritually rich. The job of creating a stimulating and challenging atmosphere in which children can develop and learn is the shared responsibility of all the adults on campus. Social interaction and play are vehicles for instilling such values such as acceptance of difference, self-esteem, respect, and integrity. Mutual discovery is the reward for all.

The substitute is to possess a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others, relate well with children and staff, and fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school's educational philosophy and handbook. Familiarity with responsive classroom, Montessori philosophy, and differentiated learning is highly desirable.

Responsibilities also include:

- Maintaining constant supervision and safety of all children

- Reliability, flexibility, and ability to work with a team

- Supervision of all children

- Assisting with general housekeeping and maintenance tasks

- Assisting the administration, teachers, teacher assistants and other staff in appropriate ways

- Assisting in following the daily program and weekly plans

- Assisting in preparing the learning environment

- Assisting in the set-up of interest centers, and preparing the needed materials and supplies

- Maintaining confidentiality for all student, family, and staff information and photos

- Maintaining professionalism at all times

- Treating the children and staff with dignity and respect. 

- 3 or 5 days/week where you report to work to fill in if and when a substitute is needed. You will be paid for the day whether or not you are required to fill in
