Summary:

The Early Intervention Service Coordinator assists families of children birth to age three with a developmental delay or disability to receive the services and rights under federal law. This includes conducting family assessments, coordinating developmental evaluations, overseeing services on the child’s Individualized Family Service Plan, and coordinating transition activities. The Early Intervention Service Coordinator works on a multidisciplinary team and provides supports and resources to assist family members and caregivers to enhance children’s learning and development through everyday learning opportunities.

This position requires a minimum of 30 hours per week. The Early Intervention Service Coordinator must be available on Wednesdays 1-3:30 PM and one day per week with availability after 4 PM.

Experience Requirements (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities) required include:

1. Minimum level of one year of related work experience working with community resources, local education agencies and conducting home visits / working with families and children.

2. Basic skill level in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. word processing), email applications, and internet usage. Intermediate skill level preferred.

3. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records.

4. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.

5. High degree of initiative and independent judgment.

6. Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.

7. Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills. Must be self-motivated, proactive and solution focused.

8. Ability to establish and maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system and office procedures.

9. Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.

10. Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with public, staff and patrons.

11. Ability to work independently with general direction.

12. Experience with EIDS (Early Intervention Data System), FileMaker Pro, and Adobe Acrobat Pro preferred.

Education/License/Other Requirements include

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a specific field (see below); or in any field with at least two years of verified full-time (or equivalent part-time) supervised, paid experience in case management, and/or working with children birth through age five with disabilities, developmental delays, or diagnosed physical or mental conditions that have a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay and their families.

Specific fields include audiology, child and family studies, child development, child life, counseling, education, hearing and speech sciences, human development, human ecology, human social services, medicine, nursing, nutrition science, occupational therapy, ophthalmology, optometry, physician’s assistant, physical therapy, psychology, rehabilitation, social work, or speech language pathology.

Valid Ohio Driver’s License and appropriate insurance coverage.

Professional licensure in Social Work, Education, or Nursing (or another area as indicated by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities) preferred.

Must meet the requirements to become a credentialed Service Coordinator.

Credentialed Service Coordinator preferred.
