Research/ Clinical Veterinarian Gastroenterology
- (3276471)Provide veterinary support for in vivo studies in the multidisciplinary Traverso laboratory. This includes working with small and large animals on studies that explore the ability to deliver therapies in a more advanced and accurate way that translates to better patient care for metabolic diseases as well as others.
Responsibilities include managing and supporting in vivo studies; assisting post-docs/students/technical staff in study design and protocol generation; maintaining protocols, renewals and amendments; teaching and training that complements the local requirements including animal welfare, handling and behavior, anesthesia and analgesia, procedural and surgical techniques, and regulatory mandates; performing in vivo studies that require additional support in a variety of species and models; working collaboratively to create new animal models and generate potential areas to expand applications; collection of data and analysis including contributions to manuscripts and presentations.
Local travel within the city and state may be required as well as occasional international travel.
REQUIRED: DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school or from an AVMA-listed veterinary school with ECFVG (Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates) certification; license to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state; and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
PREFERRED: Experience practicing or training in veterinary medicine in a research setting for at least a year or similar relevant experience.
