Nursing Director - Inpatient Psychiatry
- (3259346)The Nurse Director reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of patient centered care, organizes, implements and oversees clinical and program development in assigned area(s) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Brigham & Women’s Faulkner Hospital as well as the regulatory requirements of all regulatory or accrediting agencies. responsibilities include oversight of professional nursing practice, planning, management and operation of the unit to ensure high quality.
The Nursing Director for the locked 24 bed inpatient patient psychiatric unit works collaboratively with the Chief of Psychiatry/Medical Director and a multidisciplinary team of nurses, providers, therapists and social works to provide a therapeutic milieu for a primarily adult population with a broad group of diagnosis.
The inpatient unit is a secure DMH licensed unit and accepts patients 16 years of age and older whose psychiatric or medical conditions require 24-hour care in a safe, locked setting. As an acute service, the unit will admit patients with chronic illnesses who are in acute relapse and who would benefit from a short-term hospitalization aimed at the reconstitution of previous levels of functioning. Dual diagnosis patients are treated in collaboration with the Addiction Recovery Program. The inpatient unit functions as the primary back up to the Partial Hospital Program and provides consultation elsewhere in the hospital and in the community as needed.
