About the Team

The data engineering team is responsible for building, owning and deeply understanding the data that flows from the outside world into Bridgewater’s trading systems. 

About Your Role

As a Data Engineer, you will help us achieve our mission by deeply understanding our investment data needs to build the data pipes & investment data concepts that flow data from the outside world into Bridgewater’s trading systems. This means having a deep understanding of the economic and financial data industry, partnering with our investors, and implementing end to end solutions to represent the investor’s needs in Bridgewater’s data fabric. It is a very fast-paced environment, where you need to use your expertise to deliver high quality and timely that have direct impact on the firm’s bottom line.

You will drive the following responsibilities:

  • Understand sets of investment “data concepts” - how outside data is used at Bridgewater from both a conceptual investment and technical construction perspective
  • Design/build data solutions to support business needs, utilizing abilities in data architecture, data modeling, and data programming
  • Develop and maintain data assets across the data lifecycle: evaluation/profiling, ingestion (ETL), and business logic transformations
  • Evolve data assets over time by improving the logic or technical definitions, contributing directly to improving Bridgewater’s investment logic
  • Ensure data accuracy, timeliness, and completeness through the data life cycle
  • Expert on financial data through the data life cycle
  • Partnership with investment analysts, investment engineers, technologists, and investment content owners to evolve all of Bridgewater’s investment assets in respect to data

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-year degree from an accredited undergraduate institution

Physical Requirements

For most of our roles, Bridgewater offers remote work flexibility, with most employees required to work on campus as their principal work location, a minimum of two days (and in some cases three days) per week with the option to work offsite on other days.

Compensation Band:

  • The wage range for this role is $115,000 - $180,000 inclusive of base salary and discretionary target bonus. The expected base salary for this role is between 80% - 90% of this wage range.
