Substance Abuse Counselor
Duties:
- Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans for clients with substance abuse disorders
-Conduct evaluations/assessments to help determine client's clinical need. -Facilitate substance use education classes.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy
- Implement behavior management strategies to address client needs and promote positive outcomes
-Maintain contact and communication with community resources to aid in client referrals and continuity of care.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of substance abuse treatment principles and evidence-based practices
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field
- State licensure or certification as a substance abuse counselor
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in substance abuse treatment
