Student Service Representative - Office of the Registrar Job Details Job Location Bridgeport, CT - Bridgeport, CT Position Type Full Time Description The Student Service Representative reports to the Registrar or designee and is responsible for input, maintenance, review and verification of student academic records, including registration, and graduation.
Essential Functions: Provide customer service, clerical and technical support within the Office of the Registrar. Typical duties includes:
* Entering student registrations
* Filing and general production of letters and other office communications Handling counter transactions
* Respond to telephone/in-person inquiries from students and parents regarding registration materials and graduation events and providing information on where established policies and procedures can be located
* Entering graduation applications into the database and updating related graduation dates Update general student information in the database such as address and major based on documentation provided by students and departments Updating online graduation spreadsheet
* Notifying students related to diploma issues and materials
* Scanning of graduation materials and diplomas
* Some weekends and evenings are required Perform other related duties, as required
Required Education and Experience:
* Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by 3-5 years of prior experience dealing with customer inquiries in a high-volume services area; an Associate's degree or technical diploma is desirable.
* Experience in an academic environment is highly desirable.
Key Skills / Knowledge:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including knowledge of proper phone etiquette
* This position requires a strong customer service and team orientation
Strong customer service skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and guests
* Ability to follow oral and written instruction
* Must be able to work independently and use considerable judgment.
* Exceptional computer skills, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Microsoft Outlook including the ability to maintain manual and electronic records.
* Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task
* Must be an excellent problem solver, exercise good judgment and continuously improve office procedures.
* Tact, diplomacy, professional demeanor are a must at all times and especially during busy periods and stressful situations.
* Consistent with FERPA and professional office protocol, adherence to confidentiality guidelines is required.
