INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES JOB OPENING
ITS FIELD TECHNICIAN (TIER 2)
AFSCME 1522
SALARY: $55,000 - $65,000 / 40 HRS PER WEEK


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Candidate will possess and continually demonstrate aptitude for growth in Technology Engineering Skills and Practices. Perform software, hardware and physical infrastructure/device troubleshooting and diagnostics. Deploys end user network connected devices including computing devices, printers/IP phones, etc. Loads application software, providing technical support for mission specific end user software. Ability to provide non-technical and technical end users with clear and accurate directions. Dependable, effective, well-mannered and able to work with all different types of clients (Students, Families, General BPS Staff, Teachers, Administrators, Board Members).

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Deployment of user and network devices:
    • Windows, Mac, iPad, Android and Chrome OS computing devices
    • Network devices such as Wireless Access Points, Telephony Devices & Video Cameras
    • Rackmount equipment such as audio/visual equipment and networked devices
    • Printers, scanners and fax machines
  • Software deployment and upgrades Including:
    • Operating System Images
    • Software Applications and Hardware Firmware
  • Install wired connections for network, audio and visual connectivity, including wire molding/cable raceways.
  • Install/mount audio/video equipment such as interactive displays.
  • Deployment of endpoint devices to all sites in the district.
  • Ability to Install wired network connection drops with CAT5/6 termination skills required
  • On-site deployment of endpoint devices to District schools and administrator offices
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of all District equipment
  • Support users computing and backup user computer data as needed.
  • Provide on-site assistance and remote assistance to users (various District supported users)
  • Process computers for recycling and data destruction
  • Must be able to move and carry equipment up to 50lbs
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Information Technology or designee
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred in Information Technology
  • CCNA, A-Plus and/or Network plus certification(s) preferred
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Information Technology field
  • Experience providing hardware and software support services directly to end users who may not be technically savvy
  • Experience providing technology service delivery with end point user satisfaction
  • Familiarity with device imaging techniques and industry standard management software including Microsoft SCCM and Intune for Endpoint.
  • Familiarity with Anti-malware products such as Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEPM), Crowdstrike, Cisco AMP and Carbon Black.
  • Excellent troubleshooting techniques and ability to actively ensure user uptime and needs
  • Strong organizational skills with emphasis on detail and follow-up
