Bridge School is seeking a dynamic and creative individual to lead our 5th year of summer camp! Traditionally, camp runs from mid-June to mid-August, five days a week, as a day-camp. Bridge School Summer Camp is a holistic summer camp experience for rising 1st through rising 7th grader children. All weeks of camp include a fun and balanced approach to the day; blending crafts with outdoor free play, energetic group games, music and storytelling. Each week there is a theme for camp and the activities, learning, and goals center around that theme. We believe strongly in giving kids agency in their day, and know from experience that this is the key to campers having a great day at Bridge Summer Camp. We provide the campers will lots of fun and engaging choices surrounding the camp theme.Responsibilities for the Summer Camp Director position include creatively developing weekly themes for the camps, implementing and teaching camp curriculum and activities, hiring and overseeing camp staff, and administrative tasks related to camp. There are 30 hours of flexible time to be spent preparing for camp in the spring before camp starts in June. Camp runs for 9-10 weeks throughout the summer with the week of July 4th off. Bridge School is a child-centered, state-approved, independent, K-6 school housed in a renovated dairy barn in Middlebury, Vermont. Teachers collaboratively create Bridge School’s hands-on, project-based curriculum, drawing on innovative pedagogy as well as state and national standards. Classes are taught in a multi-grade format to recognize children’s individual pace for learning.
